Best Fish Finder Reviews – Do Not Buy a Fish Finder Until You Read This...🐠🐠

A fish finder, as its name suggests, is a gadget used to detect pulses of sound energy underwater to find fish.

Anglers can view a graphic representation what is beneath the boat leading to the identification of the fish through the features of the best fish finder.

The goal in shopping for a fish finder is purchasing the right type based on its GPS, footprint size, display resolution, transmitting power requirement, and frequencies.

Conclusion;

How to choose the best fish finder;

Standalone, Combo, or Network Fish Finders: Which Should You Choose?

You have three choices when it comes to a fish finder: the standalone type that performs a single function, combination models that offer a chart-plotter as well, and the network system that has a range of functions.

Here are a few reasons to choose any of these:

Standalone-

""If your only goal in purchasing a fish finder is to see what is below your boat, the standalone type will provide the largest display and best performance with minimal costs"".

If you own a small boat and fish just around a small river or lake, this one is for you, especially if you are on a limited budget.

You can turn this into char-tplotter combos by adding a GPS sensor;

Combo-

If you have a mid-sized boat, the combo fish finder with a chart-plotter is ideal for you. You can utilize the GPS sensor to navigate the fishing area.

Network System-

This type of fish finder can support a wide range of data sources including radar, video, satellite radio, GPS charts, and raster.

Most of these fish finders can be connected to your smartphone and be controlled over a Bluetooth or Wi-Fi connection.

What Display Specs to Consider in Choosing a Fish Finder;

The LCD display of fish finders are made of pixels.

The greater number of pixels per square inch portray a more detailed structure, which equates to a better representation of what is situated below your boat.

With more pixels, high resolution, and a big screen display, you are able to see the air bladders of small fishes and fishes that are swimming in the bottom.

The fish finder enables you to separate the targets in close spaces than those that are not.

Aside from the pixels and resolution, another factor is the diagonal measure of the screen.

Widescreen displays provide you with the most meaningful information since it allows you to split the screen and display more than one data.

If you want a more comprehensive technique of finding fish, the screen should be able to display the GPS chart, returns from the transducer, and radar screen all at once.

Transmitting Power and Frequencies—Which is Best for a Fish Finder?

Watts RMS (root mean squared) is the expression of the power of the fish finder.

The power of the gadget is directly related to how well you are able to see in silt-laden water, view into deeper depths of the water, as well as determine the targets and the bottom structure.

For coastal application, a 500-watt fish finder can deliver enough power.

""For blue-waters, at least a 1000-watt fish finder is required whereas for inland lakes, a 200-watt fish finder is enough"".

Transducer frequency can be single, dual, multiple, or broadband CHIRP system.

For the finest detail resolution, higher frequency will deliver this.

This level of frequency will also produce the least background noise as well as the best view from a speeding boat.

""For shallow water applications, higher frequencies at 200kHz, 400kHz, or 800kHz are ideal"".

However, for maximum depth, lower frequencies are recommended.

Water depths of up to 200 feet call for 200kHz and higher frequencies.

On the other hand, those going beyond this depth should have 80kHz or 50kHz.

Your other option for frequencies is the CHIRP or Compressed High Intensity Radar Pulse.

This is a recent style of broadband fish finder in either on or two frequencies.

This technology is capable of transmitting signals linear upward from 40 to over 210 kHz instead of just either 200kHz or 50kHz.

About Transducers;

The main units that both emit and receive sonar waves in a fish finder are called the transducer.

Most fish finder models come with transducers out of the box.

This requires easy installation and mounting.

However, for more advanced needs that come along with advanced boats, you will need transducers that can meet these greater needs.

Through-hulls are ideal for advanced needs.

Aside from the features, you should also consider the materials from which the transducers are made.

Different materials suit different boat types. For casual fishing with almost any kind of boat, a plastic transom mount material will be compatible.

You may also opt for through-hull transducers that are either made from plastic or bronze.

Wooden hulls also have these two choice but is better to use bronze wooden hulls since plastic has the tendency to crack when wood expands. If the hull cracks, it will damage the plastic transducer that will lead to leakage.

Note that boats with positive ground systems should not be installed with a transducer featuring a metal housing. You should opt for other materials instead that will fare with all the other needs of your boat and fishing activities.

Top 5 Best Fish Finder;

With the several models available, choosing a fish finder can be confusing. Through the fish finder reviews below, we will help you make the choice easier and clearer for you.

"If You Could Only Use One Artificial Bait" ...

A number of years ago, I stumbled onto an opportunity to learn some great fishing “secrets.”

As a fishing pro staffer for Cincinnati Outdoor World’s Bass Pro Shops, I have had the privilege of meeting a good number of the very best fishermen in the country.

These guys are pros who have made successful careers of fishing for Bass, Crappie, Muskie, Walleye and Catfish.

In addition, we have local fisherman who have a world of great information that, if tapped, can revolutionize the way many people fish.

On one occasion, the store had a big-name pro coming in to do a seminar for one of our store’s special events.

Because his travel connections did not work out as planned, I was asked if I could fill in and provide a seminar for the large crowd assembled .

What happened next forever has changed my approach to teaching fellow anglers how to be successful.

Why, I don’t know, but I posed the following question to the assembled crowd:

“Imagine that you can pursue bass the rest of your life, but you may forever use only one artificial bait.

What will it be?”

The crowd responded with a number of great answers.

I followed up each response with another simple question: “Why”?

I then asked each responder, “How long he had been fishing for bass?”

At one seminar, I shared the stage with one of the most successful tournament pros in the country.

He is well known as an expert, particularly with crank baits.

I asked him “The Question,” fully expecting him to respond with one of the many crankbaits of his sponsors.

I was surprised with his answer.

After studying the question, his first statement was, “That’s a hard decision.”

I pressed the issue, and he told us it would be a ""7-inch, Green Finesse Worm."" Wow!

I then asked how long he had been fishing for bass and he told us for more than 50 years.

Can you believe it? A great crankbait fisherman with more than 50 years of experience, and he tells us a ""7-inch worm!""

I asked why, and he gave me two solid reasons.

First, he said that the worm is a good bait to use on "Approaching Fronts".

Additionally, the bait has versatility.

He can use the worm bare, on a jig, drop-shotting, shallow, deep or in between.

I asked two other fishermen in the crowd that day, and they responded with their choices.

One chose a Kevin VanDam white or chartreuse 3/8- to 1/2-oz. double willow leaf spinner bait.

The other chose a 3/8-oz. black and blue jig with a pork chunk trailer.

Again, versatility was the main reason for their choices, and these two guys had more than 60 years experience between them.

Between those fishermen and the tournament pro, they had more than 110 years of experience.

If you or I can learn all we can about using those three baits, we will become successful fishermen.

Every time you have the opportunity to ask that question of a successful fisherman, do it.

I typically like to use Texas rigged worms and also try lures now and then just to see if something else works, but from Late June on, the fishing sucks. We still have fun, but would love advice on finding more fish!

Fishing 101: Locating Bass All Season Long in Unfamiliar Lakes…

Most small ponds and lakes can be fished with some level of success by the persistent angler with a minimal amount of research or scouting before the trip.

But when you want to fish that big lake everyone talks about, it pays to do a little research.

In this article, we are going to discuss using lake maps, water temperature, and time of season to help you narrow down the best areas to start fishing for bass on a large lake that you’re unfamiliar with.

We’re going to assume you don’t have a high-tech HD sonar unit to rely on, an expensive bass boat, or anything new and shiny at all.

All you need is a lake map, a compass, a good thermometer, and a good pair of polarized sunglasses

Megabass Magdraft Freestyle Review...

Jason Sealock

I have been a big fan of the original Megabass Magdraft with its belly treble that was held in place by a magnet.

It's a very effective swimbait that gets bit.

But it is limited when you wanted to skip it under docks or fish it around cover.

A lot of anglers, like me, were cutting the magnetic harness out and using Mend-It to seal the bait up and then rigging it on a screwlock weighted swimbait hook.

That allowed me to skip the bait around cover and not worry with a treble hook catching on anything I couldn't see under the water.

Now Megabass offers the Magdraft Freestyle, an unrigged version of the original Magdraft.

And they come in a two-pack.

So you get two durable 6-inch swimbaits for around $12.

(1 of 6)RIGS NICELY ON A WEIGHTED HOOK:

The Megabass Magdraft Freestyle has the same great swim of the original but gives you two more rigging options for use on a screw-lock weighted swimbait hook or a swimbait jighead.

I've fished the Megdraft Freestyle on both, and it definitely swims good and catches fish on both rigs.

But the real allure to me is being able to rig it weedless.

The formulation of this plastic is a little more dense that gives it weight, rigidity for rigging without sacrificing its action.

That's not an easy thing to get right in a soft swimbait.

(2 of 6)NOSE IS ONE OF THE BEST AT HOLDING SPRING LOCK:

One of the things that I've always loved about the Magdraft swimbaits is how dense the nose is.

That just makes for a better swimming swimbait but most importantly it holds a hook so much better.

Whether its a jighead or a swimbait hook, you can catch fish after fish without worrying if the bait is going to tear off at the nose.

Unlike the back of a swimbait, when the nose gets tore up, it can be very difficult to get it to rig right again even after gluing, melting, or Mending it with Mend-It.

That's probably my favorite attribute of this new Freestyle Swimbait.

The nose does not tear up easily.

(3 of 6)BELLY SLOT HOLDS HOOK WELL:

The belly of the Magdraft Freestyle balances this swimbait very well.

It keeps the weight on a weighted hook from shifting which will cause a swimbait to turn up on its side and not swim right.

This belly slot keeps your hook in line well again largely because of the plastic formulation.

It also doesn't compromise the bait on a jighead which is an added bonus.

I'm a big believer in having options to change your presentations.

When I'm shallow around cover I want a weighted hook.

When I'm fishing it on channel breaks and deep structure I want a jighead.

And when I'm just fishing the middle of the water column in open water, I want the original Magdraft.

(4 of 6)SWIMS GREAT ON A WEIGHTED HOOK:

The Magdraft Freestyle has the same hard tail thumping action and head shake of the original which is what made this such a popular swimbait.

The snub nose design gives it a great profile and swim, even when it contacts an object.

It doesn't roll over. It will turn and return to upright quickly so you get a lot of swimming action in cover.

(5 of 6)GOOD COLOR SELECTION:

My favorite colors in the Megabass Magdraft Freestyle are Silver Shad, Albino Pearl Shad, White Back Shad and Brownie.

(6 of 6)HAS A GOOD HOOKUP RATIO:

The most important thing to me on a weighted hook swimbait is whether or not you can stick fish.

I personally prefer a jighead first, then a belly treble and a weighted hook last in order of which I think hooks bass the best.

But I've been very happy with this swimbait.

I've caught several 3 and 4-pound bass this year on Magdraft Freestyle with a weighted swimbait hook.

I prefer an 8/0 and the bass have had no problem getting hooked which says a lot when a 6-inch swimbait can get completely engulfed and hook a fish as small as 3 pounds.

I also like that Mend-It gets this swimbait back to new as does a hot iron melting the plastic back.

The part of this swimbait that will tear is the back mostly when a fish thrashes on the surface.

Try to keep the fish down as much as possible or tighten up where they don't have the space to thrash back and forth.

That is where your bait gets torn up.

But I've Mended the handful of Freestyles I was able to get before their first shipment sold out.

They are completely restocked now so you can find the Megabass Freestyle swimbaits at Tackle Warehouse, Discount Tackle and other fishing tackle retailers that carry Megabass bass fishing lures.

3 TOPWATER TRICKS FOR LATE SUMMER BASS FISHING!

The dog days of Summer have arrived!

Catching bass on top-water is really simple, but there are some tricks!

It doesn't matter if you fish reservoirs, swamps, or ponds, here are 3 tips that will simplify your topwater fishing this Summer.

The second half of Summer requires more attention to detail.

The bass have seen a lot of baits the past few months and standing out from the crowd will become more important as each day passes.

We recommend fishing the extremes. Focus on baits that are significantly larger, and significantly smaller than the "normal" offerings.

Additionally, targeting fish during low light periods with fast moving baits and high sun periods with subtle presentations will increase your odds.

Below you'll find links to our favorite baits for each top-water category.

We've included our favorite colors for each, as well as the equipment we use to fish them.

All the links go directly to Tackle Warehouse where you can see detailed photos and descriptions of each item.

We Can Revisit Fc vs Mono For-Jerk Baits;

So with the off season now upon us (well some of us) its time to look back and evaluate how each of my combos, rod, reel, and line choice worked.

2 things I am really focusing on this winter is FC vs Mono (for both shallow and medium diving cranks) as well as this topic - jerk-baits (hard-baits).

I know this has been discussed a lot, but I searched and didn't see a thread that was too recent.

Last year I used 13lb Sunline Defier in 13lb test.

While I liked the line I am debating changing it to either Sunline Armilio (used on my lighter cranking rod and loved it) or FC, probably Sniper.

At minimum I would switch to 11lb test as I don't think 13 was necessary. I am leaning to mono as it treated me well this year.

FC sinks - mostly a pro, but I fish pretty shallow so not a huge issue.

More sensitive - pro for slack line bite detection. Less stretch - con but I think that 2 things can help with this - using the right rod and trying to horse the fish in.

I will be using an appropriate rod and am also working at getting better landing and reeling in fish on various rods/techniques.

Mono - more stretch - pro see above, so possibly not too much of an issue.

Finally, which will affect suspension and the erratic action more?

I would also respectfully, appreciate your thoughts on why you use one over the other, not simply Mono or FC and leave it at that.

Maybe it is just a preference thing, but I would like to hear your personal thoughts to help me decide.

I am hoping to hear from some, in my opinion, top jerk-bait fishers on the forum (obviously there are more than this).

(1) Go as thin a diameter line as practicable however often the only way you can get close to the advertised depths is trolling at exactly the correct speed with the exact length of line out.

(2) I usually use a 4-6lb fluoro leader on a 6lb braid backing. Seems like it should be thin enough. It sounds like the advertised depth is more like a somewhat generous maximum theoretical depth.

(3) A lot of times I think on those small lures the max depth is kind of unrealistic. Rare I can get an f3 Rapala down out of sight (maybe 8 inches in most my waters).

(4) Plus what Ben Bragg has posted.

(5) If all else fails try using a few split shot lead weights attached about 6” apart from each other until you find the correct spacing and weight requirement. Good luck 🍀…

Lucky Craft LV-500Max Specifications:

Type Crankbait:

Depth 12-15 ft

Class Sinking

Size 3" (3/4 Oz.)

Colors/Patterns Approximately 19 different colors.

Hook Sizes #4 front, #6 rear

MSRP $15.00

Impressions:

Lipless cranks are an interesting anomaly possessing the characteristics of many different lures: the simplicity of a spoon; the action of a crankbait; the fish calling and finding characteristics of a spinnerbait.

Hold several in your hands from different manufacturers, and you might be hard pressed to find any differences.

So, aside from the incredible finishes on the LV-500Max, what makes this bait so special?

Those were among the first thoughts that came to mind when standing at the cash register with several of these baits in hand and a beat-up credit card extended between my fingers.

The Lucky Craft LV-500Max is available in a variety of colors:

Field Tests:

As is standard with the majority of high priced lures this editor acquires, the first thing I did was to replace the split rings on all of my LV-500Max baits with lure-savers.

For once, this exchange paid immediate dividends because on my very first cast with this lure, I cranked twice and hit a snag.

Pointing the tip of my Kistler He69APC straight at the snag, I locked the spool of my Conquest 51 with my thumb, pulled back, and voila! back came my LV-500Max minus the rear hook and split ring.

This happened on several other occasions over the course of several months and while doubts creep into my mind about the likelihood of retrieving my lure during each snag, I've yet to lose an LV-500Max.

Rigged and ready to go our LV-500Max mounted on a He69APc and Shimano Conquest 51:

Casting:

As with all lipless cranks, the LV-500Max casts like a torpedo cutting through even moderate headwinds with no problems whatsoever.

A unique characteristic of this bait is, once it hits the water, it sinks with a distinct nose down position with little side to side or swaying motion common with other lipless cranks.

In fact, it sinks so quickly and assertively you can begin your retrieve almost as soon as it lands and cover large expanses of water in a very short period of time.

Retrieving:

The LV-500Max has a very intense, tight vibration as it comes through the water.

Lucky Craft employs a mixture of glass and brass beads to produce the sound for this lure that, on quieter days, can be heard off in the distance as you bring your bait through the water.

We found it to be a very effective bait at calling and enticing bass to strike whether we were using a high speed retrieve reel like a Daiwa TDZ (23" per turn), medium speed reel like the Chronarch SF (22" per turn), or a more traditional cranking reel like the Shimano Conquest 51 (20.5" per turn).

Lucky Craft employs a mixture of brass and glass rattles to produce sound for the LV-500Max:

Application:

Lucky Craft Pro Staffer, Nicholas Hinkle tells us he loves to throw his LV-500Max in the early spring when the water reaches about 55 degrees and the fish are staged right off the nearest break close to their spawning areas.

He'll use either a constant, high speed retrieve, or rip the bait vertically as he retrieves it back towards the boat.

He describes this bait as having a slightly larger profile than others and relies on it often when in search of that kicker fish to round out his limit.

One of the more popular Lucky Craft colors, Aurora Black: 5 STARS ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️USA>>>>>USA

We found great success with this lure retrieving it in, along, and through patches of dense weeds during the warmer months of the year.

We found it particularly deadly in the fall when the weeds start to die off and patches become sparse.

During this time of year, the bass start to gorge in an effort to bulk up before the colder winter months and bass hit the LV-500Max with a fierce vengeance.

A close up of the quality hooks, and signature Lucky Craft split ring (inset) that come standard on the LV-500Max:

In fact, early in our field tests with this lure, we were on the California Delta in an area of sparse weed cover.

A fish hit my LV-500Max so hard and swam away with such a vengeance, we were certain I had hooked a good sized striper.

After several minutes of chasing her with the trolling motor, I was able to bring the fish along side the boat and as she rose slowly from the depths, we peered into the water with much anticipation.

As her silhouette came into focus, we saw the telltale markings of a seven to eight pound largemouth bass!

JIP and I called out our discovery in unison, "BASS"!

A cry that woke the bass out of her daze and inspired one more dive where the LV-500Max pulled free from her mouth.

After that, JIP cut off the lure he was testing and tied on an LV-500Max to help accelerate our evaluation.

Lucky Craft's very realistic LV-500Max:

Durability:

Through about half a year of consistent use, our Lucky Craft LV-500Max lures have held up surprisingly well.

The bright metallic finishes, like in their Aurora colors and the MS American Shad, we found more prone to chipping when thrown up against rocks and stumps than are their more mat like finishes (mad craw & mat tiger).

However, the mat finishes are more easily scuffed after a hard strike from a fish so take your pick.

None of the wear we experienced was out of the ordinary considering the amount we banged our test baits around.

Our stock hooks held up fine except when lost to the occasional underwater snag.

A closeup of the diving surface on the LV-500Max:

Features:

One of our favorite features of Lucky Craft baits is their use of oval split rings at the point of connection to your line.

These oval rings practically guarantee your knot will not cinch up at the potentially hazardous split ends of the ring.

Additionally, the LV-500 Max has some incredible detailing around the head of the lure including very realistic gill and jawlines and lifelike eyes.

The diving surface of this lure, located at the top of the head, has a very subtle concave curvature, unlike the usual flat diving surface of other lipless cranks.

This subtle shaping might be what gives the lure its unique diving posture and trajectory and no doubt influences the way in which the lure vibrates through the water.

It's refreshing to see this amount of detail and subtle design tweaks in a lure but these types of innovations are what Lucky Craft lures have been all about.

Ratings:

Lucky Craft LV-500Max Ratings (?/10)

Construction/Quality We found nothing lacking in our LV500's 10:

Performance All our baits cast superbly and ran true out of the box 9:

Price On the low end of import lures, but definitely on the high end of domestic products 8:

Features The oval split rings make a difference 9:

Design Attention to detail at every angle - typical of these import lures but amazing nonetheless 10:

Application A very effective search bait. Power fishers rejoice! 9:

Total Score:

9.17:

Pluses and Minuses:

Plus+ Minus-

J Wonderful array of finishes: L Somewhat expensive;
J Very well detailed lure: L You can't have just one;
J Unique diving action on free fall:
J Good, sharp stock hooks:
J A real confidence inspiring bait:
J Oval split rings at the point of connection to your line:

Conclusion:

Our original test batch of these lipless cranks consisted of three bait.

I now, personally, have over a dozen of these pricey cranks in my box and have given away several more to friends and relatives looking to find their way in this addictive sport of bass fishing.

In fact, there are times I have to fight myself NOT to tie one on because I need to give the lure I'm using more time.

If you're looking to add a bait to your arsenal that has a good chance of raising your confidence index, you could do worse than Lucky Craft's LV-500Max.

Tie one on, chuck it out as far as you can, start winding, and hold on to your gear because bass love to slam this lure. Until next time, keep collecting!

The Scent Of Shad...B.A.N.G. Fish Attractant.....

Date:08/15/21
Tackle type: Lure
Manufacturer: Gambler - B.A.N.G
Reviewer: Zander

Total Score: 6.7

Introduction: Why use fish attractant? Does it work?

There is a lot of controversy over whether or not fish attractants have any impact on hooking more fish.

Tackle-Tour tests one of the more popular fish scent manufacturers, B.A.N.G., to help answer some of these questions.

B.A.N.G. Shad Formula Fish Attractor Specifications:

Attractant Base Shad:
Type Liquid (oils)
Package Aerosol
Weight 5 ounces (141 Grams)
MSRP $6.20

Impressions: B.A.N.G. is produced by a manufacturer named Gambler. Anglers that recognize Gambler are probably familiar with one of Gambler's other popular line of lures....Hibdon.

B.A.N.G. Shad Oil Attractor comes packaged in a small 6" Aerosol can that can easily fit into any tackle bag, unlike some of the other larger spray bottles.

One nice thing about a liquid based attractor is that there is no fumbling with it in the field, just spray and fish.

Some paste and jelly fish attractants are difficult and messy to apply.

Why use a fish attractant: There are two widely published facts about Bass in relevance to attractant:

Fish can detect 1/200th of a drop of substance in 100 gallons of water.

A Bass will spit out a bait within 2 to 3 seconds if it doesn't taste acceptable to the fish.

If the Bass like the taste it can hold onto it for as long as 30 seconds before spitting it out.

The goal of all Anglers is to hook more fish, and fish attractant manufacturers are competing for your business by producing attractors that will prolong the amount of time a fish will hold onto your lure, and ultimately increase your chances of setting the hook and landing the fish.

The Test: It is recommended by most experienced Anglers that use attractants to pick a "fragrance" that is natural and not just a lab engineered scent.

Top choices are crawfish or shad because they mimic the scent of common Bass prey.

One quick spray will douse the entire lure with B.A.N.G.'s pungent smelling attractant:

B.A.N.G. cans fit easily into a backpack or tackle box, and applying the attractor on any lure is as simple as point and spray.

It is unnecessary to douse the lure to the point it is dripping.

Simply spray for 2 seconds and the lure is adequately coated.

When you spray B.A.N.G. you will instantly smell the pungent attractor.

The scent is extremely strong and definitely something you will want to avoid getting on your clothing or gear.

The first time we tested B.A.N.G. was at the O'Neil Forebay which is located South of the Bay Area and is famous for pumped in landlocked Striped Bass.

Both MP and I were testing with identical Mister Twister white haired striper jigs.

We coated MP's lure with B.A.N.G. and left mine untouched. It was a very slow day and in the end MP was the only one who landed a single Striper.

Unsatisfied, I field tested B.A.N.G. on 4 more occasions at three different lakes.

In every case the lures coated with attractant produced the same, or slightly more fish then the standard lures.

The coated lure trails the oil attractant instantly:

A good fish scent will stay on the lure for a prolonged period and disperse slowly through the water.

I found that B.A.N.G lasts about 15 casts before the visible trail of scent stops becoming noticeable, but if you actually smell the lure it still reeks of the scent and will continue to do so for over half an hour of use.

I have seen many people continually spray the lure after the visible trail is gone.

While this repeated spraying probably won't hurt your chances, it wont help them either.

Underwater and after 7 casts the lure continues to disperse attractant:

One secondary benefit of B.A.N.G. is its ability to lubricate plastics.

Not only will it scent the lure but it will prolong the lure's natural movement.

Many lures that you buy in the store are already scented, spraying these lures may not necessarily double the lures potency.

Instead I recommend using B.A.N.G. with different lures on multiple occasions and finding a combination that works for you.

So does B.A.N.G. work?: According to the fact that Bass are able to sense 1/200th of a drop of substance in 100 gallons of water it does make sense that adding a accent will bring some more sensory attention to your lure.

But my tests have not demonstrated that B.A.N.G will stimulate more fish to strike.

It has shown me that the attractant may not really attract more fish to the lure but it may improve the odds of setting a fish that takes the lure.

I am continuing to use B.A.N.G. on multiple occasions to gather more data about the strike rates with and without the attractor.

I will publish the long term results in a upcoming article.

Tip: Rather then spray lures out in the field B.A.N.G. can be effective at scenting and lubricating the lures in advance.

I have found that spraying B.A.N.G. into a sealed plastic lure bag will lubricate the lures and allow the oils to soak evenly into the lure and prolong the dispersal of the scent later.

Ratings:

B.A.N.G. Shad Formula Fish Attractor Ratings (?/10)

Construction/Quality A quality product in terms of design of the application and the fact that it is made to mimic a natural scent is good 8.

Performance: Performance is still up for debate.

While lures with the attractor performed as good or slightly better, lure presentation is still the most important factor 4.

Price Slightly expensive for a fish attractant, but you get the ease of use of a aerosol 5.

Features: Not Applicable to this product N/A

Design (Ergonomics) The ease of use with the spray design and the small can make the ergonomics of this product good.

It is designed so that the scent gets on the target without troubling the Angler 8.5.

Application Good application, and is one more factor that can be added to the Angler's bag of tricks 8.

Total Score:

6.7

Pluses and Minuses:

Plus Minus

J Great Aerosol Applicator L Performance still debatable
J Good lure lubricator L Cost slightly high
J Stays on the lure

Conclusion: On days when all else is failing it may be worth a shot to spray B.A.N.G on a lure and see if the added element of taste and smell will increase your chances.

But remember, lure presentation is still the single most important element of Bass fishing.

If your lure isn't in the right spot or being retrieved in the right way there may be no fish in the strike zone to attract.

Until next time....Tight Lines!
