Every time I spool a reel, I stretch it out. I have a swivel tied to boat trailer with 65lb braid. I tie the new line to it then walk off at least 50 yards with a tight drag, enough not to break new line. Works for all reels.
I like stretch as much of my line as I have room to before each trip. when I'm done fishing I also like to run my boat at a moderate speed and let my line off the spool behind the boat down to to spool with nothing on the line and pull it behind the boat for a few minutes. Then while still dragging the line rewind it onto the spool. That will take all the twist out of your line. Use, Reel Magic,
spray on your reel and line before and after each trip. Find and use a line with little as possible spool memory Trylene Xl comes to mind.

I fish vegetation, such as lily pads, and hydrilla in the summer time. Those give shade, and lower temps in the middle of the day. I like to use a moss boss lure for both of those. where you have trees and limbs I'd use spinner baits making sure to bounce you bait off the cover. Remember if your not getting hung up your not fishing. Work your baits at different speeds and movements

When tou go don't take any other Rod and reel with you. That will just make it too easy to lay it down and use somethibg else. When you get used to it You won't want to go back

I like the idea of a stringer, or a wire cage with pvc pipe to float it along with you

it'll be 77 years in Fl for me in Nov. Load your boat with sunscreen for the younguns and plenty of water stay hydrated. Our weather gets hotter each year. If you are just getting started fishing down here, it would be a good idea to hire a guide for a few trips to learn from him or her where and how to catch desired fish. Take notes

I use a Mossboss lure, You won't believe It will work to look at it, but it will always land with the hook up.
Work it slow with a slight jerky or trimbley motion stopping and making it trimble at the edge of any open spots before sliding it into the hole. Be ready fore an explosion, when you get it count "one thousand one" and set the hook hard. You may have to wade to fish, use heavy line.
