Do fluke bite at night. I know blue fish are active at night but I never heard anything about fluke.
I think everything bites at night

Fluke, I have never heard Flounder call that but yes sir they absolutely do bite in the dark
In the mid Atlantic, we have winter flounder - generally smaller in size - max 5 lbs, in the summer they are called fluke - get much larger - NJ state record is 19 lbs 12 oz. They are actually 2 different species
We go gigging for them with bright lights all night, some setting 2'-3' from shoreline waiting on bait to wash by!

I used to go gigging at night when I was selling my catch. The way I had the lights rigged on my boat made it very productive.

Productive but not very sportsman like.
Unsportsmanlike are the guys who spot them with lights in the shallows and spear them
Collect all kinds of seafood! Crabs, lobster and shrimp too! I don`t like frozen seafood, so I get my fill and go home!

I used to have a 14' boat rigged with 4 lights on each side pointing down. I would gig flounder all night. Back then I had a license and sold them. I had them packed on ice immediately. They were feeding

Sorry, I needed to add something. This was very productive but not very sportsman like. I targeted fish that weighed 2 to 4 pounds. I would usually leave the monsters alone. It is good fishing at night. I reccomend having a bright light.
Unsprotsmanlike??? Oh Please lets save some more apex predators! Porpoise, tarpon and sharks eat tons of fish we are saving??? Crabs gotta eat too!

You would be surprised at how much grief I have gotten when some people learn that I was a commercial fisherman. It's not politically correct. Best time of my life.
Commercial fishing is not meant to be sport-like. . It's a way to make a living, just like any other job or commercial business.
The fact that a person is selectively taking smaller fish and leaving the larger, spawning capable fish, is a very good practice.
I'm not a big fan of commercial fishing, but someone's got to supply fish for the masses to eat. I have no problem with those who do it legally and responsibly.
