Best area around port St. joe for catching mullet

The marsh on the bay side of Cape San Blas was full of mullet last week. Jumping everywhere. If you’re looking for finger mullet, may try around the sea wall at the marina.

Hello George, I like to use a head light with several different colors of light. You click from white to green to black, to red. I also use fluorescent line at night which shows up well with a blacklight.

Be safe hurricane Michael hit our area 90% of our trees are gone. The schools have lost a large amount of students teachers and coaches and support personnel. No jobs or housing. It'll be years before we recover.

Michael came close to wiping out Mexico Beach. We started vacationing there around 2013 and have been back every fall since. Mexico Beach is building back and the locals in the area really appreciate the vacationers that frequent the area. We are sitting in Port St. Joe now with mid 70’s weather and no humidity. Luckily the hurricane is not supposed to bother this area too bad. Prayers for the people in South Florida.

Hello bbrownlee, I haven’t heard any reports. I will be at Cape Dan Blas this coming week and will try using live and fresh dead shrimp around Mexico Beach Marina, the beach in front of 2nd Street, and the sea wall at Port St Joe Marina until I find what is hitting. Hoping it will be prime until the storm rolls through. Good luck to you. If you see a grey headed fellow with a goatee beard, say hello to Danny.

Congrats to you on getting her out there and to her on besting you. Good day for both of you. My wife normally out fishes me. Bad part is she is a better shot than me also.

I am ashamed to say, I have never crappie fished South Holston. Deep and cold lake. Smallmouth love it in the spring.

Same here Whitey. On my way to a meeting with a client to do a job when the first one hit. Heard the news on the radio. At clients house watching the news when second one hit. Absolutely horrible!

Best day I’ve had on Cherokee was in early October throwing chrome/blue back and chrome/black back Bandits. They were moving toward the backs of the creeks. If it is tough, drop shot, shakes heads and jigs. Don’t forget point 6.

I would also consider the discharge area of the power plant near the dam.

Good luck to you BB2005. I have not fished Watts Bar this early in the year. However, the best day I had on Watts Bar was rainy with wind, throwing a spinner bait fairly shallow. Seegundo gave good advice.

Hello Paul, East Tennessee is great for fishing. Within an hours drive from Jonesborough there are at least 5 lakes, Douglas, Cherokee, Watauga, South Holston, and Patrick Henry. Three rivers: Nolichucky, Watauga, and Holston. You can google the TWRA website for fishing reports and species in each of the above.
