Manley’s or Sergeant are the best saltwater pliers , caution they will rust but keep em lubed no issue ! They cut hooks , wire , and mono very well !
Used some of mine well over 35 seasons still work fine !
Sergeant or Manleys , they’re tough not the best on braid , but I use scissors on braid !
I’ve had several pairs over 30 years and with some minor TLC work as good as new !
Hi water that’s not muddy but mearly stained can be fished .
Use heavier lures that can compensate for the hi water , fish seams especially bank seams .
Trout will not fight current , new seams form on hi water so pay attention , also near bank riffs that contain rocky uneven bottom where they can dodge the current !
Also note clearer water generally found near banks while stained water tends to flow mid stream where current is strongest !
Fish hi water correctly it often produces big fish !
There interchangeable some tapers may vary but no issues at all ! Just clean your reel after salt use , should be fine !

I never fished Steamer in a dead drift situation , to me most success I’ve had with trout especially bigger fish is to present steamer underwater . I use a Teeny mini tip
with short leader and tend to fish heavy water
primarily for larger fish !
To me this method allows to cover water more completely and imitate fleeing bait fish that triggers hard strikes .
