Yep totally agree, commercial guys should suffer some also, all other states around us stopped most inshore netting and from what I've seen and read their fisheries have rebounded greatly, NC Politicians need to wake up or It'll all be gone for both commercial and recreational. Thanks and Good Luck
WECOME TOP, THANKS TO ALL OF YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE !!!! Medical issues kept me out, but My Dad (WW11) and Brother (Vietnam) both served. Glad to have you join the group!
Great catch and best hobby there is. NC closed season, can't keep any, NC needs to stop commercial netting of flounder and other inshore species. Love to catch and eat them, they stop recreational fishing but let commercial netters continue to destroy fisheries killing all kinds of juvenile fish and sealife as by-catch. WOW Man didn't I get off on a rabbit trail, Glad you're getting back into fishing and hope you continue having great times, teach others especially kids, the enjoyment of our great sport!!! Oh, by the way I'm a NC fisherman myself, both fresh and saltwater. Love it all!!!!
Not bad if fishing alone, two people in it you'll have to watch out for slapping each other with the rod or even worse a lure.
Not drag guys, spool tension! Practice, practice, practice!!!!
I have a 1995 9.9 hp Johnson 2 stroke still runs great, I ALWAYS disconnect gas line and let the motor run itself out of gas before trailering, and it nearly always cranks up on second pull. I took 2 yr certification course on Marine Propulsion Systems and instructor recommended this. Also he recommended Yamaha as his favorite engine as far as longevity and less problems but to each his own.
Only dummies and/or lazy people only ones who don't fish in NC!!!! LOL
Prayers for You, fishing, talking with the LORD both good medicine
Yes as much as possible I'm located in Kinston, I fish the Neuse River mostly.
Sure, that spot holds a school of bluegill and if you or someone else are keeping those fish, yes the number of that school is being depleted, sometimes more fish will move and join that school of fish or area. Also as the fish breed the number will increase unless they are overfished. The term "leave some for seed" applies here! Try to find other areas in that lake, pond, river that has other schools of bluegill or fish. Look for the same conditions and you'll probably find more fish.
I start with Dramamine the evening before and the another in the morning, eat some non-greasy food for breakfast. I've never tried the patch behind the ear or the wrist band, have seen several people get sick even with those; I've never been sick using the Dramamine maybe I'm just not prone for seasickness, Thank God. Don't think I could handle that, have felt so sorry for some of those that were seasick!
Dark colors dark and/or cloudy, light colors sunny; what most say. Keep chunkin' an windin', GOOD LUCK!
We call it bubblegum, yes they will catch fish, bubblegum floating worm "Great" sherbet (yellow& pink) good also!!
Reel as soon as it hits the water, don't let it sink.
