Thanks, Maineboy. Do you burn through a lot of baits by going straight through them? I’m reading that with the o rings, you can cut down on some of the damage. I ordered some rings and they won’t be here till next week - but I’m stoked about trying the wacky rig and don’t want to wait that long lol.

hey, betts, using the wacky rig for bass fishing is like apple pie and ice cream; you just can't beat it. tight lines.

First time at Big O was with a guide and it was all about shiner fishing with circle hooks. Boring fishing but does produce (potentially) big fish. It was edges, clumps depending which way and how hard the wind was blowing then and days previous. Oh, the guide said: If you fall over don’t drown trying to swim. Just stand up! 😂
Good luck.

hey, greennyonline, have you tried slow trolling with shiners in the stump field? we have a lot of luck slow trolling shiners. good luck.

thanks, guys; we usually fish the canal with 8" and 9" black and dark blue worms on 20# test line and the stump field with whopper ploppers, lunker lures and of course, shiners. and we always catch the more prominent bass on shiners using 20# - 30# test line. good fishing and tight line to all.

I picked out a rod, (Ugly Stik GX2 Spinning Rod) which has fast action and medium power, and is 7 feet. I’m looking for reels but nothing is really standing out to me. Any suggestions would help. I’m planning on running a wacky rig with some googans, if that helps lol. Thanks!

How true this is below when I read the stories we post here on the stage.

Many of us are and have been through some tough times. We have reached out to one and another and shared our thrills and our misfortunes from the Good Morning Post to the Good night wishes.

Keep refilling the cup of caring my friends, we never know who may need a refill.

Just started bass fishing frequently for the first time in years. My cheap old spinning reel crapped out on me and I want to build a new setup. Want to spend $75-100, gonna pair it with a bass x 7’1 spinning rod.

[quote=Sterba43]Lipsticker, After bouncing around for 77 years and been in some unfortunate situations, my advise is to tell him up front what happened. It just sounds like it was an accident and I would want my friend to let me know if my rod was broken under a similar situation. My thoughts.

good advice, but only when you give him the replacement rod and hopefully prior to the next fishing trip.
