Just started bass fishing frequently for the first time in years. My cheap old spinning reel crapped out on me and I want to build a new setup. Want to spend $75-100, gonna pair it with a bass x 7’1 spinning rod.

Shimano Nasci is a pretty nice reel in that price range but to be honest, I really think a Pfluger President 30 is just as good and about half the price

I hear great things about Pfluger President.
Supposed to be the best budget reel going

They are built well and if properly maintained will last a long time. There’s a lot of experienced fisherman that come into the shop and swear by them. I’ve got a few myself and there now about 5 years old. I honestly can’t tell any difference between them and my highest end modest Shimano Stradics for a quarter of the price.

I have had lots of drag problems with Penn and Okuma for salmon fishing . The drags don't last long before burning out. I bought a cheap real from Walmart the OPTI X 40 and haven't had any problems with the drags for catching salmon or steelhead. And they are only $20.

I own a Nasci and it is a good solid reel, I'd buy another if I were in the market. I've never owned a Pfleuger, but I sure do hear a lot of folks talk about them - most good things. I am a devoted Shimano guy, I own a couple of Ambassadeur bait casters, other than that it's all Shimano. I've never had one fail me.

I am a big fan of the Pflueger President reels. Smooth as silk. Great reel for the money!

Shimano Sedona 2500 or Phleuger Presidente ... personally I prefer the Shimano but both are amazing reels for the price!

Right on the Plueger pres. Holds up well in salt water. Just be sure to rinse it off good.

I agree. Pflueger President and whatever size is best. 30, 35, or 40
