First lesson I learned in Airframe & Powerplant school in sheet metal class was "... break all sharp edges". On 2024 aluminum, the usual aircraft grade AL, use a mill bastard file. And you don't have to take a lot. And don't forget to clean it every so often with a file card.

you can also check out the charter fishing out of Newport Beach... it's been quite a long time since I was there, but I think Art's Landing and Davy's locker still operate on the NB peninsula in Balboa. My Da and I went many times out of both when I was growing up, fishing for rock cod. Yummy! Greatly enjoyed those runs with him. I miss my Da.

I'm originally from SoCal - Costa Mesa, CA... Ha! I didn't know one could even fish in the Santa Ana River!! The only time I ever saw it as a "river" was back around 1967-68 when we had one rain storm after another roll in for almost 4 weeks! I went to high school in Anaheim via I-5 and crossed the river every day passing thru Orange. The river was so high you would think you could reach out and touch it from the freeway. Never saw so much water in that river before or since. The headwaters of the river are at the Prado Dam, seen off the 91 freeway just east of the Hwy 71 exit and south of Chino Airport. That whole area behind the dam had become a reservoir with tree tops poking up through the surface of the water and almost reached the airport. Usually, the only water at the mouth of the river, which empties in the Pacific between Huntington Beach and Newport Beach, results from tidal action, but hardly makes it a quarter mile inland. Further inland it's dry for 30-40 miles until near the dam. Like I said, I didn't know anyone even fished in it!

Had a friend rerig his boat lights for the coast. He didn't want corrosion so he used all Stainless Steel fittings. He got done and the lights would not come on. He replaced all the Stainless Steel with copper and it worked fine. Stainless Steel has more resistance to DC voltage than copper. Learned that fixing line printers, a Lady Eng had designed the power supply and used a Stainless Steel slug for a fuse between Logic and frame Ground. The printer would print fine for a while and then the print would start to fade out. The hammers would not have enough current flow to make a good impact. Did 44 years repairing Computer Systems with 27 years of it as Tech Suppport for the guys in the field that had problems they couldn't figure out.

Hmmm. Could that be why the triple lights Ijust installed on the rear trailer crossbeam are not as bright as the rest of the marker lights? They were much brighter when I tested them before install. I used stainless self-tapping screws to attach the light bar, the frame of which acts as the ground.

Not sure if this is sad or funny!
I have rewired a few trailers in my day.
Hooked up my boat and trailer the other day and noticed I had no trailer lights. I have plenty of downtime right now due to the shut down so why not fix the lights. Can't fish anyway because all the ramps are closed.
Started by checking all the connections and everything looked good. Checked all bulbs, everything looked good. Decided it would be a good time to upgrade all lights to LED. May as well replace wiring harness while I'm at it.
Went and bought new LED tail lights, Amber marker lights , red marker lights, new harness, butt connectors, etc. Stripped trailer all old lights and wiring and rewired and installed new lights. Nothing! No lights at plug in!. Keep in mind, I work slow. This all occured over three days in the evenings. Spent most of day today checking all connections, grounds etc.
Neighbor came by to see my progress as I was scratching my head. We both checked everything again...everything looked great. Finally, he says to me " did you check the fuse in the truck"? " Remember the last fishing trip we did, you didn't unplug the lights when we launched"! .....sure enough...a 25cent fuse had blown! Popped in new fuse and she lit up like a Christmas tree! Well...I've got all new lights and wiring now!
Not sure if this is sad or funny! br I have rewire... (show quote)

EXACTLY the same thing happened to me! Similar to Murphy's 5th Law, I think... A $300 picture tube will protect a ten cent fuse by blowing first!. It was a ten amp fuse in the Jeep that blew... but where it was was unknown. Now I know. Sometimes education is expensive.

The state borders for WA and OR are partially evenly divided along the Columbia river until the 45th parallel intersects the river, which then said border continues east to the border of Idaho... update, I could be off a degree... Google Earth is calling it at the 46th parallel... close enough.

You can’t mention politics on this board?? I thought this was a “chat” board.....if some don’t like it simply don’t read, just my opinion.

They remove political comments here?? Sounds like a board dictatorship, good to know, not sure I wanna stick around.

Don't know where you got THAT idea.... I've been having political discourse on this site all week long. I haven't been cut off or anything. In fact I've been having lively chats with several members.
However, if you engage, let's keep it a civil discourse wherein ideas are discussed and no name-calling. After all, the first one who does so loses the argument. Besides, I refuse to have a battle of wits with an unarmed person.

Very nice... now you need a big fish to go with it! I've never hunted, but fished some with my Da when I was much younger in So Cal (out of Newport Beach). Working to rebuild a used run-about and may use it to fish. It's my retirement project. Something I've always wanted to do - someday. Someday is today! And every day is Saturday, now!

From Oz, eh? Great to have you here, evenso! When I worked for Lockheed starting out in my aircraft maintenance career in the early '80s, I had two occasions to visit Australia... both times when our carriers anchored in Cockburn Sound off Fremantle, WA. Loved the place, with countless friendly people. Never got to the east coast, though. How'd you wind up here in WA?
