Not sure if this is sad or funny!
I have rewired a few trailers in my day.
Hooked up my boat and trailer the other day and noticed I had no trailer lights. I have plenty of downtime right now due to the shut down so why not fix the lights. Can't fish anyway because all the ramps are closed.
Started by checking all the connections and everything looked good. Checked all bulbs, everything looked good. Decided it would be a good time to upgrade all lights to LED. May as well replace wiring harness while I'm at it.
Went and bought new LED tail lights, Amber marker lights , red marker lights, new harness, butt connectors, etc. Stripped trailer all old lights and wiring and rewired and installed new lights. Nothing! No lights at plug in!. Keep in mind, I work slow. This all occured over three days in the evenings. Spent most of day today checking all connections, grounds etc.
Neighbor came by to see my progress as I was scratching my head. We both checked everything again...everything looked great. Finally, he says to me " did you check the fuse in the truck"? " Remember the last fishing trip we did, you didn't unplug the lights when we launched"! .....sure enough...a 25cent fuse had blown! Popped in new fuse and she lit up like a Christmas tree! Well...I've got all new lights and wiring now!

Really amazin how much that helps.
Had a friend rerig his boat lights for the coast. He didn't want corrosion so he used all Stainless Steel fittings. He got done and the lights would not come on. He replaced all the Stainless Steel with copper and it worked fine. Stainless Steel has more resistance to DC voltage than copper. Learned that fixing line printers, a Lady Eng had designed the power supply and used a Stainless Steel slug for a fuse between Logic and frame Ground. The printer would print fine for a while and then the print would start to fade out. The hammers would not have enough current flow to make a good impact. Did 44 years repairing Computer Systems with 27 years of it as Tech Suppport for the guys in the field that had problems they couldn't figure out.

You'll be much happier with the LED lights. I changed to them, now I don't have to worry about the filaments breaking in the bulbs. I changed them on my boat and utility trailers.

One time I couldn't find out why the batteries were being drawn down on our travel trailer while it was just sitting at our house. I turned the battery disconnect switch to off and the battery still was being drawn down.
Found out that I had introvertedly pulled the electric brake safety pin out and it was feeding power to the brakes.
Put the pin back in and was good to go.
That's how we learn things, won't happen again. LOL.
Been there, done that!!! Upside is all new lights and wiring!!
Well no...we both quit drinking over 20 years ago! However, I did hook my pickup up to tree stump in his yard and pull it out for him this afternoon. Good neighbors are with their weight in gold! I've had both good and bad over the years!
Mr. Samples - Not sure I would have told that story!! Just saying!

One thing about it, when we make mistakes like that, we definitely remember them! I know it had you pulling your hair out! But what the heck! You're good to go now, and I know you'll be happy with the LED's. Tight lines!
Bdub, that’s a great story and one to remember! I’ve had several experiences like that myself. Life just doesn’t come with instructions...

That is funny, but there was a reason to replace lights and wiring. Everything happens for a reason. Now you have led’s , people behind you will see you better
