Say Kerry,

I have a few favorites that are a bit more contemporary, but considered oldies but goodies by my kids….
“Here I Go Again” = Smokey Robinson and the Miracles
“Beginnings@ = Chicago Transit Authority (their proper name at the time
“Cherish” =The Association
I liked them so much that when my wife and I renewed our vows on our 15th anniversary (25 years ago), I insisted that the DJ play them, and that my wife and I were singled out to dance to each one…hope this brings back some walks down memory lane for all the stagers who read this….mr.sleeve

Great songs is right…RIP David, and thanks for the legacy you leave behind, and all the great memories…my favorites are Southern Cross…I guess we all have some crosses to bear, and the trip none better put into lyrics as CS&Y…and, no better words for appreciation of life than Wasted on the Way….yes, their music will make other generations look back in amazement….

I even had the pleasure of talking to him personally (he actually answered the 800 number on the 1/4 lb spool), and told him that I had heard a rumor that he was going to change his proprietary formula to improve the characteristics of his platinum series of lines…I further explained that I wish he wouldn’t because it had become one of my favorite lines and he didn’t have to change a thing….he was so enamored by the fact that a fellow fisherman would take the time to actually inform him about his product that he said he would send me a complimentary 1/4 spool of my choice to compare it side-by-side with the platinum series…I thanked him for his graciousness and told him what lb test I would like to try…he further asked me about what other kinds of fishing I like, which I found quite odd at the time, but proceeded to tell him about my love of ocean fishing, and one of the memorable charters I went on where he was the actual captain of….we shared some memories, then hung up….to my surprise, I received not only the lb test I requested, but 4 other spools of higher lb test lines with a note from captain Izor that I should try these lines out on my next charter trip, and these were all his new line of XXX…needless to say, I have become one of his most ardent supporters, and even though he is no longer with us, I will always remain one of his unofficial ambassadors of his product, because I do not take acts of genuine generosity lightly…just thought I’d share that with you about this extraordinary gentleman….

I've been using Stren Magnathin mono for many years and like the quality especially the smaller diameter size in relation to pound test rating. I have not been able to find certain popular sizes and after researching find it is no longer made. I've read some good reviews from previous magnathin users on a couple of other brands...Sunshine Super Natural and Berkley XL Smooth. Both were highly rated for smooth easy casting as well as breaking strength and durability. Just wondering if any Stage members have used either of these 2 and your thoughts. I appreciate your input.

Hi seesalt, just wanted to throw in my two cents….I’ve had great luck with all the lines you’re considering, but my go to line has been izorline platinum or xxx… Ross Izor is a legendary long range saltwater captain, and developed his own brand of monofilament….it is tough as nails and has less stretch than Berkley, which allows for better hook sets…another line that has these same qualities is P-line CXX…I don’t think you can go wrong with any of the fine suggestions being made here….

These are the best bobber stops I have ever used. Am down to my last three but cannot find where to purchase more. Have searched the internet extensively with no luck. Does anyone know if these are still sold?

As the picture shows, they come in two colors. There is a slit in the middle that you squeeze and put your line through. Then just release the pressure and they tighten on the line. To adjust them just squeeze again and reposition. I have never had one slip whether holding a bobber or a barrel weight. They do not go through your line guides, so you are limited to six feet or less, but I use a 10'6" rod for steelhead and that is not a major problem. Any help would be very appreciated.

I have heard about Squaw Creek Reservoir that it is the only lake that we can use cast net to catch unlimited Tilapia. I went to their website to read about it. I found that we can catch them by fishing off the bank. That got me interested because I don’t own a boat.

I would like to hear from someone who had done that. Can we really catch them with rods and reels? What do they bite on? Thanks in advance 🙏🙏🙏

I’ve had really good luck with earthworms, mealworms, or shrimp… sometimes, using Berkley shrimp or lobster spray as an enhancement increases your chances of getting bit… hope that helps you, best of luck…

Have you guys ever heard of Tabasco Sauce? I know men who carry small bottles around in their pockets, afraid the next restaurant will not have any available.

This is grown on Avery Island, Louisiana and the company making and packaging it is there on the premises. On the first floor, they have a scene of how it was made in the 1800s, but upstairs is modern equipment for cooking, bottling, and finishing the product. Your eyes will burn all the time you are there, due to the pepper in the ambient air. Just Sayin...RJS

I agree with you, RJS….have ever tried the Sriracha version of Tabasco? It’s quickly becoming one of my favorites…

I’ve always had pretty good luck from shore fishing near Gray’s Landing using earthworms….the power mouse I used consisted of cheese power bait and the tail of a real worm…best of luck to you..
