Absolutely buddy! I'm 71, fully retired and my boat just sits outside 99.999% of the time with nothing to do. Loved fishing the St. Johns when I was a kid.
Burton and Moccasin Creek have good levels. Got a little soaking rain last night for a few hours, ending our month long drought.
Just being honest, I think the best bass fishing is in south Ga and north FL. But this is a beautiful area in late summer.
Tobo is not a good place to fish; it has way too many jet skis and boats ripping up and down the lake, which kills the little fish. You'll do a lot better fishing the "Okmuddy", especially north of Macon. There are other good rivers for fishing in middle Ga too. I would not bother fishing Tobo.
I have a nephew that's a pro fisherman that lives in Macon. He fishes the Ocmulgee to the north of Macon and does really well, especially stripers.
Here is the recipe:
Smoked Salmon Brine
INGREDIENTS
1/3 c Sugar
1/2 ts Garlic powder
2 c Soy sauce
1/2 ts Onion powder
1 c Water
1/2 ts Pepper
1 c Dry white wine
1/4 c Non-iodized salt
1/2 ts Tabasco sauce
INSTRUCTIONS
Mix thoroughly. Brine salmon chunks 8 or more hours, keeping refrigerated. Rinse thoroughly after brining. Pat dry with a paper towell and allow to air dry for at least one hour prior to smoking.

Wow guys, I'm so sorry about that. I was just looking for the Lil Chief smoker brine recipe. I have it as a .doc file on my computer but thought it might be better to post a link. I didn't click on anything so I was completely unaware of the malware or whatever.
As an Alaskan, I can tell you the most popular is this one: https://www.share-recipes.net/little-chief-smoker-brine-recipes/
There is NOTHING better than smoked silvers!!! It's literally like eating meat candy. Those look amazing.
It would be hard to find a better place in this heat. It's been really nice up here. I'm about an hour from Taccoa falls.
"Tobo" doesn't really have much fish due to so much boating and jet skis. It's basically a mud hole. You'd do much better at Juliette or the upper (north of Macon) Occmulgee.
"...just one more cast and then we'll go."
I believe there is one right around Hartley Bridge Rd. in Macon. They used to do this, not sure anymore.
Welcome JK!! I'm in north Ga but I grew up in Valdosta so we went every other weekend to Keytons, Dekel's, Mexico Beach, Steinhatchie, Carabelle, etc. It was like my second home. The fishing was ...rather, the CATCHING was much, much better back then. We brought home a cooler of fish almost every time; now you're lucky to limit out.
Welcome aboard! I have a nephew that fishes all the time, seriously. One of his favorite spots is the Oakmuddy (my name for it) north of Macon. My favorite is bream and crappie.
