Looking for information on striper fishing here

Check in with Johnson’s Bait in Yuba City….your best info source. The Feather River at Boyd’s Pump can be great drifting jumbo minnows!

Years ago when the Ling limit was five we used to to get full limits every fall right by Buoy 14 at Timber Cove. We used Live bait we caught next to the Buoy. Makes me wish I still had my Boat.

Back in the day I spearfished out of Timber Cove, the limit then was 5 fish….dove out of my zodiac no more than 100 yards off shore in 40 to 60 feet depth…always limited out!

Nice, are these recent catches

Unfortunately not…but I can’t believe you can’t catch some nice trout there if you put in the effort. I never fished by the dam although you see people there trying. Go to Snallygaster (yes, that’s not misspelled) Cove or Nightcrawler Cove and drown a worm/ marshmallow combo or Rainbow Power Bait! Tight lines….

Has anyone been fishing at Shasta or Whiskeytown recently? I am trying to decide if it is worth driving 175 miles.

Definitely Frenchman Lake very near you…I always caught limits there…rainbow trout either bank fishing or trolling. See photo of rainbows/fosters!

Would like to know the latest report for Strippers. Any info would be great!

Dunno…but there’s many strip joints in SoCal…it normally takes at least a $20….or so I’ve been told…🤭

Stripers are not even native. What justification could they possibly have for protecting them?

Rite on RBF….here in Oregon they are classified as “invasive”, no limit, no closed season, and they are great table fare…com’en get’em!

Wow, that is a lot of Egrets. I've never seen that many together either.
Nice catch from the boy. Were y'all able to keep it. We just have an 18 inch minimum, 2 fish limit out here.
Supposedly they are goin to a slot limit here for next year. We'll see.

Hey Saw… move up here to Oregon…no size limit, no possession limit, no closed season…..I will hook you up!

Seen these at Gull Lake today, I don't remember them, anyone knows what we are looking at???

Air cooled outboard motors??? Had one on my square-back Coleman canoe back in the day. Do you believe I fished all over the Sacramento Delta with it?

Any suggestions appreciated.

One of the best artificial baits is Gulp sand worms, 2 inch, camo pattern. A good lure is Luckycraft 110, any sliver or minnow pattern; this lure might even entice a Hali or striper bite. Real bait: sand fleas (tiny beach crabs), sand worms, mussel meat, clam meat, etc. Check utube for setting up your surf fishing rig. Photo shows red tail perch caught on Gulp sand worm, 11 foot surf rod with 4000 size Pfleuger spinning reel. Caught these on beach adjacent to Bandon, OR. north jetty. Surf perch fishing is best in spring and summer but they will bite year around. Tight lines, go get’em.😎🎣🦀🐟

Want to receive info on southern Oregon freshwater fishing.

Hello Sgosser…here where I live there is an information resource called “50 places to fish within 60 minutes of Roseburg”. Substitute your town’s name instead of Roseburg and you might come up with something. Good luck! 😎🎣

I have been fishing the Sacramento San juaquin delta for over a decade now and have been getting skunked like peppy le pew this whole season. I use the same slider sinker bass rig that everyone else does. Same bait Shad sardines and chovies. Is it a clarity issue or am I just the unlucky one. Thanks for listening gang.

Hello Derpdizzle…love the name. I would say to always check with local bait/tackle shops to see where and what for stripers…as a confidence booster you might try some largemouth bass fishing. If you thrown a wacky rigged senko (experiment with color) or a chartreuse spinner bait on rocky levees and/or tule ares, you will catch fish. If you own a boat go up the Sac or Feather rivers and drift Carolina rigged jumbo minnows (kinda pricey) on the bottom. See photos, tight lines.
