Tony, that looks great! Is it just for transport or will it also serve as your rod holders while surf fishing? If for fishing I think I might angel them at 45 degrees or so. Just so they are not straight up and down. But, will certainly work either way. Nice job! Cool looking truck too! What kind is it?

To answer your question. There are no hatchery Coho on the Yaquina river anymore and you can't keep the wild ones. Trade winds charters can take you out for ocean salmon but the fish don't come into the river anymore. There used to be a hatchery at the Marine Science Center but it was closed long ago. I have fished for those fish when I was younger off the docks in the marina. There were lots of fish back then, but they are closing to many hatcheries and the salmon runs are diminishing. The Trask and Tillamook Bay, Nehalem Bay the fish go up to the North Fork hatchery, You will have to check out the ODFW website to find other rivers that have Coho hatcheries.

John Mac nailed it! However, last year at this time I dropped my crab pots in the bay and went up the yaquina and caught and released 4 or 5 nice coho! Was a lot of fun. Just know you can't keep any! Good way to kill some time while your crab pots are soaking.

Sounds like a great day! How are the crabs about now? Soft? Or full of meat?

Happy Anniversary Larry!
Had a couple of High School proms at the Hotel Del a few years back (about 44 yrs back)! Great place. I also remember the ice skating rink on the beach during Christmas time!

I use both 8# and 10#.
I put the 10 # on the side that my kicker motor is mounted. This ensures less blowback and prevents my cable from being cut by my kicker prop. Learned this the hard way!

Pole, that's a about as nice of a boat as a guy could ask for! Have fished the Columbia for many years myself. I see you have a Columbia river anchor and bouy system. Have you mastered setting that anchor and retrieving it properly? Very important! Especially if you plan on anchoring in any hawg lines.
