I made a rocket launcher rod holder for a friend a few years ago and it was a six rod and I think it cost me about $25. I've got close to $50 into this 5 rod, but I did have to buy some new glue and a can of spray paint. Anyway, this is the new beach bum buggy, slowly getting ready to go to work. The rack failed the 70 MPH test and tipped over but I've only got it secured with bungy cords. I'm reluctant to drill into the truck bed and put in metal clamps, but I might have to. I ordered Weathertech floor mats from Amazon but they didn't fit - so I have a new set ordered from Smartliner. Other Santa Cruz owners have said they fit great.

Check out using Nut serts. Much better then crawling under the truck to push bolts through.

Trust me, Tony, sleep on it a couple of nights and you'll figure it out. Either that or get ahold of Tim the Tool Man. I'll give it some thought also, but that won't work very well.

Fill the bottom of the rod holder with sand or lead shot then use the bungee cord to keep it from sliding around

BT I see a tie down hook down low. Make a bracket from there to PVC to hold it in place 🤔

That's what I was thinking, fill the bottom with lead shot, then just tie to the front of the bed.

I made it to fit snugly between the wheel wells (42"). There is a hard fiber "blister" there and I suspect I can run a couple of self-tapping screws on a 1 1/2" pipe bracket that will work okay. They would be on the vertical side wall and not on the deck. I hoped to make it so I could just pop it in and out and that solution would be pretty semi-permanent. I'm still thinking.
