If money had no influence, which is your preferred method of fishing.fishing from shore or pier,or fishing from a boat and why.
I've done plenty of shore fishing and a bit from a boat. From shore(Mostly rivers)I like reading the water to try and determine where the fish might be holding. From the boat its the variety and amount of area that can be covered.

Boat I mostly troll it is hard to do that from the bank or pier.
After a few years of owning a boat i will say kayak. Being a near shore fisher i like getting to where the boats can't.
Here in Connecticut, only about 5-10% of fishable water is accessible from the shore. That covers both fresh and saltwater. A boat opens up the other 90%, and at some places, a Yak or canoe would be your only choice. Rivers are the only exception, with shore access being more popular.
Boat fishing is my choice for 95% of my fishing currently.
Boat fishing for sure. You can reach places that shore fisherman can only dream about. Plus around here most lakes are surrounded by woods and steep banks
Boat fishing for sure. Limited shore access at a lot of the places near me to fish. Boat opened up a lot more catching opportunities. Plus I just enjoy being on the water!

Here in Washington, lots of rivers and shore fishing definitely easier,on the many lakes I prefer trolling with boat vs bait from shore and for saltwater, boat is way better to target the salmon(my favorite)as my call sign might suggest
Depends on what I'm after and where at. Can't beat bank/wading for trout - no need for a boat unless you're going after lakers that get pretty big and hang out in some very deep water. Surf fishing, no boat. Rock/pier fishing. Wanna catch a marlin or swordfish? Better have a boat.
Definitely boat
Although a lot of fishermen in boats cast to shore cover , I prefer to use my electronics to find and mark spots offshore no one else knows about.
If I find fish on one of my marked spots in say 18 ft of water depth, I’ll fish it till it stops producing, then go to a similar marked spot.
When I first thought of this topic it was gonna be pick only one.Problem is I can't.
I have one lake I love fishing for fat native trout, rainbows and cutthroat. Fished it for a dozen years and never caught any other species, it requires a small hike and most days I'm the only one fishing. Its my place of Serenity (no people).A different lake trolling for Sockeye Salmon,Banks lake eastern wa trolling for Walleye and want to start targeting Bass from boat to cover more water. Back to shore, drifting bobber and jig for river Steelhead and Salmon, theres just a major rush hand landing these fighters without a net.And finally the biggest reason for a boat is Puget Sound Salmon(Chinook,Coho and Pinks)Puget Sound is just too big to not have a boat. With a line up of fish and the variety of waters to chase em its not a matter of pick one but pick which one next. The reg's here suck but I love fishing in Washington.

Lack of FISHABLE bank is why I HAVE a boat.

I second Fred on this one!
Boat…ultimate versatility and ability to move with the fish, or go find them.

Boat. Because access to places and moving is much easier. Where I fish on the Columbia river is 90% private land on both sides of the river and access is very limited from the bank.
