Depends on if using a spinning reel or baitcast. If spinning reel you have to match your line test with your lure weight, lighter bait would need 2-4 lb test. I will also say quality of line helps. If using a baitcast then you have to follow guide for line test and bait weight. A good quality bait cast can be set up for about any weight it just takes some trail and error. Hope helps good fishing
one hand above the reel holding line like normal to release and one below reel to get leverage. When I do I hold the line in one or more fingers and then with some practice just open top hand and let it fly. When you watch others alot of them basically hold the rod with the bottom hand after releasing. With practice you can get bait along way out. Good fishing.
Wallowed out spots about 1-3' in diameter depending on species. If water clear often look for a cloudy spot made by fish fanning. In stained water harder to find though almost always in the shallow inlets in weed beds and often near shallow cover like stumps and downed trees though shallow not deep. In clearer water standing on deck of boat you can often spot them with a fish on them. Once find beds they will often be used over and over.
Cut up blue gill, large minnow's dead or alive fresher for both the better. Liver is always a go to if don't have or can't get some fresh cut bait. Depth typically 3-5' Put them out and follow them with current can be a blast.
Alot of great advice for Notl. Agreed my Z9 is set up to take on the rain and bilge it out. As others say keep what you don't want wet in storage or protected. If I hear thunder and appears getting nearer I will go ashore or under someone's dock. The part I would add is some of my best fishing has been right after a big rain. Fish to trash washed in from creeks. Trout, Smallies, Strips etc are in it looking for bugs, worms etc.
Agree with BCKliche fish in NC mountains and 1 and 2 seemed to catch more fish. I have fished larger and seems fish bump but don't take as often guess its trout mouth size and normal food as compared to a bass or crappie.
I am still a freeze in water guy, probably old habit. All the fish you buy frozen are vac sealed so guess that tells us the real answer. Personally most pan fish types I still freeze in water and trout, salmon and all salt water I vac seal. Most important is enjoy eating the fish you keep that is the best part.
Hoodies just to hot for me I use wider brim hat and that protects alot of face and neck including back of neck. I see so many fishermen wearing a ball hat and they wonder why have side and back of neck burnt-duh. Anyhow as Spirit says whatever you have to do including sunscreen for sure if don't protect now will pay later. Every time I go to the Derm dr get 5 new things burned off that are sun related. Should of used more precaution years ago. Hope this helps.
Fish come up shallow and feed first and last light most top water baits resembling a frog, hurt fish etc work well. Otherwise during day I fish cover and shade using both top water baits including buzz and spinner baits do well these of course do well during low light hours as well. On baits go big catch big.
Typically full moon May, June and July are great times to find Bream/Blue gill bedded up spawning. Small jigs and crickets both worked for me.
Find a waterfall or moving water as in a creek coming in. Trout should be spawning they are here near Cashiers NC. Otherwise deep water trolling typically is my standby for larger trout, you need a downrigger to do that correctly but works great especially during summer months.
it is usually a button on your motor or handle that controls forward reverse and neutral. It raises and lower the motor into water. If you have to manually adjust at the motor then you don't have power trim.
There are several bank fishing YouTubes you can watch a couple include techniques and lures to try. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ruP6tkB7UEs
Everyone different though with me I usually only have a problem if lose sight of shore. I do take Dramamine with no side effects and it really helps. As a precaution I would take it especially if going a long way from shore or just to be safe.
Yes quality mono will help, also don't use any more lb test than you need. Heavier test with light weight bait also causes some of that.
