Fall trout season is in full swing. My fishing partner doesn't eat trout, so I got his daily creel. I have personally caught a total of 27 trout over the past 3 weeks.

That's a ghost shark. Used to catch them once in awhile on China Beach.

I go by the tide - 2 hours before to 2 hours after high tide. But, it can vary. If I'm out on a jetty casting in to the mouth of a river, it can be anytime of day. During a dead low, the bunker fish have less hiding places, and the big sports fish know it. Fish see in a different wavelength than humans, so light doesn't factor in as much.

Years ago I went noodling out in Arkansas. Stuck my arm in up to my elbow, and was proud of the bite marks on my arm that evening sitting at the dinner table eating that fish.

The Mystic Lakes north of you are pretty good for large mouth bass. If you have a boat, fish away from the shore where there is less pressure on the fish. It's not that far of a drive to Walden Pond - great fishing there.

Thanks! How deep would that have been? Standish is the opposite end of where we’ll be staying, but similar depth should work near Raymond as well.

The depth was fairly shallow at 20 to 25 feet. My fishing partner and I started fishing about a half hour before sunrise. The last one was caught at 7:45 am - then they moved into deeper water.

I recently caught a couple of nice lakers early morning around the island out by the Standish ramp. Used a light spinning rod, a slip weight, and shiners on the bottom.

best way to catch bass in Lake salmac

I have no idea where Lake Salmac is, but during the hot summer months live bait works good deep in the lilypads. 20# braid will get them in the boat along with all the lilypads they wrap around. Hope you catch them as big as I do!!!

The big fish will stay near plants for the dissolved oxygen that the plants give off. If there is a stream coming in to the lake, they will hang there. When the water is warm, it helps to put a scent on your plastics. Live bait is always a good option when the weather is hot.

Stripers hitting pretty good at the mouth of the Merrimac. I've been using sand eels or chunk mack. Also good along the beach on Plum Island around the sandbar.
