Anybody catching anything yet?
Go to the rock jetty just north of Cocoa Beach by driving on the beach. Use pieces of fresh jumbo shrimp on the bottom just outside the breakers and you’ll knock ‘‘em dead.
The trilene knot won Knot Wars as the best for mono/fluoro, and what I use. For really slippery braid like Nanofil, I use the Nanoknot which is the Palomar knot with two half-hitches rather than one. I haven’t learned to tie a good loop knot, but I will now! Thanks!
Circle hooks are great! Floating the Missouri River in Montana, I found you can catch 10+ lb catfish in slower water using dead bait and circle hooks. Every fish pulled in is hooked in the corner of the mouth! Great for catch and release!!
Thanks for teaching me how to fish Flathead Lake. I mostly fish walleye east of the divide but I do fish Flathead some. The perch fishing in April can be fantastic. Have a great winter!
Thanks so much for the info. You’re a kind gentleman!
You’re the man! We appreciate the info! How do you fish for the bass and trout? I assume you cast towards rocky shores for the bass but how do you catch the trout? Trolling? Appreciate the info!!
Ha ha ha! An electric Muskie!
Gulp nightcrawlers would give you a chance, but not as good as real worms.
The nanoknot is just a double half hitch on the Polamar knot, wrap around twice rather than once. It prevents slippery lines like Nanofil from pulling through.
Berkeley Nanofil puts the other braids to shame, quiet and slick and super strong. Use the nanoknot when tying. $20 for 125 yards at Walmart. 10 pound test my favorite! Won’t wear your guides out like other braided line.
Whatever small non-game fish you can catch with a worm or large size frozen smelt you can place in a deep hole in the Missouri River gets the 10 lb. plus channel cats!
