Good question. Since you asked.
I bought a used boat little used, for a reasonable price from a co worker.
There are expenses. License, trailer,
Registrations, vests,floats,fire extinguisher…….insurance,electronics,
Motor maintenance ,batteries, storage and or cover, gas,…..trolling motor…
Launch fees, oh trailer hitch ….
It never stops. If you really like fishing
It’s ok but as you can see, it like other pass times it adds up.
It’s cheaper to decide where you want to catch fish and get a guide. They can even help you find a good deal as well as teach you something.
I enjoy my boat but it was fish ready
And a really good price.
I have fun, meet people, travel, and occasionally catch fish.

Hello Stratos68
I fish at lake Granbury for all species.
There is an active bass group there, but I do not belong or know any members.
My suggestion is ask at bait shops for info
Good luck

Got lucky today fishing.
In my boat, with livescope, 20 ft water,
In exposed stumps, 2” live minnows”, overcast sky’s, 8am till 11am, found slow biting crappie. Came home with 10 keepers, let 4 small go. Barely felt bite. 10’ crappie pole with braid, split shot and crappie hooks.
Fish were about 15’ + deep.
Only had 10 minnows, reused several. Tried several 1-2” jigs, different colors, no hits. Never fished this spot before but once a week I’m out there trying
Relative has lake house there so I fish often.
Guys don’t give up, keep trying.
Some days I get skunked.
Sorry no fantastic pics, just 10 fish.

Strictly jigs and or minnows
Submergible ?spelling 1080 lumens
From Amazon - lightingsky 10.8 watts
$17.99 I use at night, light doesn’t care if dark or not😁
Maybe minnows were too large, most were 2 1/2 to 3 inches
Used map on fish finder and Will try
Points with timber next time and smaller minnows. Tried to net some that night and they were too fast using my net.
Lot to learn!
Thanks for interest

Well guys got me a green led under water light fron amazon, 20 bucks. Attracts minnows like crazy.
Looking for crappie. No luck catching. Use my livescope fishing from boat and "see" fish but no luck.
Went out 3 times to different places, in old trees in 20 ft. water, under bridge no pilings, and under hwy bridge with pilings.
No luck. Used minnows and jigs. Not giving up because I have caught fish in this lake before, never got limits though. Maybe fish I see are not crappie.
Very hot days, 100+
Will try other east Texas lakes where I have more success and report back.
But as you know fish are fickle (hope I spelled that right).
Need some suggestions
I enjoy this website
Wish I could contribute helpful tips also.
Thanks from Stilltrying

Been there done that
Some advice:
You have to pay to play.

Get good maps go to YouTube and relate their info to your body of water.

Depending on what you are fishing for again go to YouTube and search for advice.

Ask people at docks/boat ramps how did they do, where, with what.

Probably not easiest or cheapest is get a guide and ask questions.
As a novice I got skunked several times before producing. Could have saved a lot of time and gas.

Go to you nearby boat ramps and practice launching your boat.

And don’t give up!
Good luck!

Hello from Ft.Worth,Tx.
First off I enjoy this site. Keep up the great responses.
I plan on trying night fishing and need info on buying a green led battery light.
How big,how many lumens, what to look for, etc.
Academy sports here has a very limited selection, bass pro is available, but not as close, and
Amazon has a huge selection, but sometimes items are of low quality.
Any advice would be appreciated.
