I remember fishing a canal near homestead Florida quite a few years back. Caught a nice bass daytime and came back at dusk to try again. As it got dark I lit the lantern that I brought with me and saw 8 red eyes 👀 looking at me from a short distance away. Fishing ended quickly. As I northern boy I didn’t know much about gators. Definitely need to be cautious around any body of water especially as it gets dark. Stay safe and tight lines FF
That’s a nice size ribbon fish. They are an Asian delicacy. I fished cape Charles pier in Virginia last summer and saw a lot,of,them caught always at night . The fishermen were using a small light attached to the line about a foot before the hook and were using shrimp for bait.
I’m really new to Florida fishing and I guess success depends a lot on the tides and maybe moon phases? Looking on line there are so many places to fish I don’t think I’ll never run out of places to try but skyway is so convenient because you can drive to a spot to fish and not have to walk and carry I saw a YouTube about fishing blind pass. Have you ever tried there?
First time fishing the south pier. Sept 7 10am outgoing tide with slight breeze. Lots of bites suspected panfish. One good hit using 5 inch gulp . Saw a few small unknown caught by another person. Got skunked but enjoyed the time there . Planning to try agai
Last summer was tough for fluke , talked to party boat captains on the Chesapeake bayside and they didn’t see many fluke caught at all. I did limit out in September at kiptopeke state park from the pier. For a change I got there on the right day instead of “you should have been here yesterday” If you have access to a small boat try going out of oyster boat ramp and drifting near the ICW not far from the ramp.
Just moved to Florida from Virginia. Looking to get some info on where to fish from piers or surf and whether there are any worthwhile canals to consider fishing in the area. Not looking for your secret spots just a general idea of where to fish. Thanx in advance
I’m new to Florida but from what I’ve read shrimp seems to be the universal bait. I’ve also seems live bait caught on location with a sabeki rig works well. Tight lines! 🐠🐠🐠
