Bank fished most of my 62 years. Had lots of good fish caught that way.

I put a Penn spinning reel together with a MH, 7 ft ugly stick and it works great for all my saltwater needs. I don't go out into the open water, I stick to Pensacola bay and have had good luck. If this helps!

Lots of red snapper fishing right off the rock pier in Gulfport. When we lived in MS years ago, my dad would visit from IL and I would take gimme there for some good fighting fish! Tight lines and good luck!

I prefer cork over EVA foam for several reasons. 1. Cork absorbs sweat, Eva does not! 2. Cork is easy to refresh. 3. Cork has better grip than foam. 4. Cork will last forever ( pretty much). 5. If you leave something laying on cork, it will take the pressure, foam won't and sometimes won't bounce back. Could go on and on, but enough for now!

A Pflugerville President 25 spinning reel on that ugly stick with some 6lb flouro-carbon line and you are good to go. Good luck!

There is no really good way of repairing this. You will never get back the tensile strength that it had from the factory. If it was purchased recently from a reputible dealer like Bass Pro you can take it back and get a refund or exchange for a new rod of same one. If you have access to a computer contact the company and let them know of the problem and where it is. DO NOT be explicite on how it happened. Use a policy that the Navy uses, "submarine dumb"! It just broke first time I used it!! A reputible company will tell you what to do to get another rod. If that doesn't work, toss it and get a new rod, and have a nice trip and see you next fall!!

DON'T PUKE IN THE HEAD!!! Go out on the deck and chum the waters! My dad, brother and I went out on a fishing charter in Half Moon Bay, California years ago. Some woman on the charter decided to eat a fried egg sandwich before we left the dock. First mate told everyone to go out and hang over railing if you have to puke, do not puke in the head or you will stay and clean it after everyone leaves. She didn't listen. Guess who the last charter passenger was when we left and what she was doing??
