Rain suit recommendation?

I'm looking for a rain suit (jacket and pants) for spring/summer boat fishing. Last year I had a Frog Tog style set, Bass Pro branded. They weren't expensive, but they were a couple years old and the rain soaked right through the papery material. Even though the fishing was ok, I was ready to give up after a few hours of miserable cold. Looking for a set that isn't too hot, I can layer underneath depending on weather.

I'd like to keep it around $200 for the set if possible, but what I'm finding it looks like it jumps from $60 to $200+ for jacket only. Anything in between you'd recommend? (I'm in the USA if that makes a difference)

Thanks.

I have the frabill F1 Storm set. bibs + jacket under $100...i have never had issues of getting wet, they're lightweight I just layer underneath for the conditions of that day..they also have F2 and F3 versions...might be worth a look

I'll look at those, thanks.

Is the material substantial (as opposed to the Frog Tog paper type material)?

It's not super thick as compared to some of those bibs out there (over kill for the fishing I do) but the frog togs ive seen personally were always stiff an uncomfortable looking, like paper as u mentioned.however the frabill are nothing like that....i ordered mine from fieldsupply.com. the material is more like a traditional non outdoors rain jacket/ wind breaker u would buy in a store

Grundens is the go-to for most people here.

The bibs are more for blood than anything though.

yup grundens and a cheap rain jacket. I got some random pants and jacket from target a while back for like 40 bucks, never wear the pants anymore but the jacket is still going strong after 10 years. I think it they are Eddie Bauer branded.

I'm getting ready to try the Rain Set I got from Lowes. $40 for them, hope they work out and hold up. Bass Pro had some Gore tech ones for on sale at $139, but my wallet wasn't quite ready for those.

I have found out as with anything else you get what you pay for. After going through several rain suits I finally found one that keeps me warm and dry. It's the Cabela's guidewear, I had to save to buy the ribs and the jacket but they are worth every single penny. I'll be standing North Carolina last spring in 40 degree weather pouring rain when we got to the lake and was still pouring rain when we came off the lake and I did not have any wet places at all. I normally fishing West Virginia and we have some really really cool springs and wet and these things have saved me I'm getting sick. I think they said I would just offer this advice save your money and buy a really good pair and you won't be sorry.

As with anything else you get what you pay for. I have went through many rain suits over my last 30 years of bass fishing. The one suit that has kept me dry and warm without fail is the Cabela's guidewear. I had to save a little to be able to get it but it's worth every penny. Springs here in West Virginia are wet and cool and this suit has kept me from getting wet and sick fishing all day in the rain. I was down at lake Shearon Harris last spring in April encountered a daythat was pouring rain when we left the motel all day while we were fishing and still raining when we came off the lake. I was still nice and warm and dry. I cannot say enough about these rain suits but they are expensive but worth every cent good luck I hope you find one that works for you.
