Will be on Dog Island next month. I usually use sand fleas or cut bait. Would like to try artificials.
There was an awful ocean red tide and a fish kill in the rivers last year.
Yes, drive north towards Sebastian and eventually you will find some beach access on the south side of the inlet. Then there is jetty fishing and pier fishing in the channel under the bridge. It's a state park at that point, so best have you license with you.
Let me know how you do at Alatoona bc I've been bank fishing there at the state park for years a get skunked every time. I've heard it called the dead sea, beautiful place though. I rarely see bait fish along the shore. There are stripers in there as I saw them going after bait pods one time. The lake level is low right now, so if you have a boat with a fish finder you may be able to discover something out there.
Sounds like you need a book from Wayne Dyer. Hope they're biting when you go.
A top water Rapala would be fun early mornings and evenings with no wind.. Spring is such a great time to be outdoors in Florida. I'm envious.
Looks like it has seen some action.
I know they like live finger mullet. Got a cast net?
Banana river. That's great to hear!
So that means that the river is not dead. What have you caught there? Which river?
Welcome Jason. I came from Satellite Beach and live in Atlanta. Uses to fish that area down to Sebastian. I hear that the river is pretty much dead do to overpopulation. Miss catching trout, crabs and shrimp off of Mathers Bridge. Will be good to hear from you in my old stomping grounds.
When I fish on Dog Island, I use a pompano rig with sand fleas, sometimes fish bites. Catch whiting, pompano, reds, drum and sheep's head. Odd for the sheep's head to be found in the surf. I guess they swim around the island from the bay side.
Haw! Are you trying to tell us something? Something to look forward to, I guess.
