Fishing trip to central Wisconsin in mid June and 3 weeks later fly up to Pennsylvania for a 4 day Car Show in Carlisle. Probably be September or later when I can get back in line if our little Covid 19 Visitor has subsided. They just relaxed the rules on elective surgery today the 4th if May here in Wilmington but I will not miss either one of those two trips unless they're holding a gun to my head. And I'll be siting on the plane both trips with my auto painting full face 3M respirator on, lol. Jer

Follow orders Oz. I'm going thru 3-6 200mg Advil ah day since they postponed my new knee 3 days before the surgery in March just to keep the tears out of my eyes. We'll compare notes 'bout Christmas time on our recovery's. Stay safe and well in this new world we live in, Jer

Use a shoe lace. Put a loop in it and drop it down on the curved part of the hook and pull down toward the shank of the hook. The skin around the barb will pucker and you can just lift out the hook. Since May of '80 I now keep a 30" brown shoe lace on my tackle box, NO BIGGY. Jer

BigFish. I'd recommend two ways to catch fish in your back yard. ANY STATE POLICE POST in S.E. Michigan You can get a Michigan 5 county map referred to as a "Huron Metro County Map" Scout out the blue spots for Bass as well as the Huron River. Want Walleye? I'd go Charter Boat south side of Detroit and into to Lake Erie where those Critters are prevalent. Good Luck on Feeshin' in Meechagin in your new back yard, Jer

During WWII my dad bought me a cane pole and ONE fishin' hook. Mom supplied the heavy duty sowing thread and an MT thread spool for the bobber.(spools were wood then) The Lemonweir river in a little hole in the wall town of Mauston, Wi. our Victory Garden was between the river and our back door. Our next door neighbor paid to have his yard mowed and all the clippings were dumped in a cat tail swamp on the north side of his back yard. All I had to do once my light bulb went on was take a stick and dig into that rotting pile of grass and I had more Red Wigglers then I could ever use, lol. Many years of fond memories on the banks of that river, Jer

Comes straight from the Marine Corps Uniform Code of Military Justice Manual RJS. That was drummed into me back in the mid '50s, and it bugs me when I see anyone wearing a cover on backwards to this day. My issue and hold over from having been a Jar head not the law. Jer.

You know the pain my friend? It never completely leaves. My pre '64s were .270 plain bbl feather weight, .243 target and an '06 Feather weight with front sight all M70s. 3 .22s, M61 Mag, M62, & M63. Owned 2 different 8 3/8" Smiths at one time or another .22 & .38 but always found them too bbl heave to be fun plinkin' or punchin' holes on paper. owned about every cal. Smith from the M17 to the M29 . Even had an M53 Remington Jet for a while. There were 1/2 dozen more including a 22/250 400 mouser action bull bbl custom thumb hole "plinker" that would and did make many crows explode out to about 300yds., but you get the idea? And our home owners policy covered 'um all but try replacing 'um? Reason I have that date locked in so well is that our only Daughter became a teenager 1 day before that break-in on the 11th, Jer

Thanks for the memory ride RJS. I was heavily into the shooting sports from the late '40s into 1980. My particularly interest was in S&W Revolvers and Pre '64 Winchester Rifles & Shotguns from '22s up to the big bores with a few Browning Rifles and Scatter Guns thrown in. The horror of horrors for me took place on August 12th 1980 when someone entered our home uninvited and decided they wanted all those toys more then I did. For the next 40 years I found it way too painful to even go into a gun and knife show. That changed for me JUST ON A WHIM this past January here in Wilmington, N.C.. Paid $6.00 to get in, walked all the isles and never stopped and then walked out and back to my car. Sat there for maybe 4-5 minutes and kept asking myself WHERE THE GOOD STUFF WAS? Not one Winchester, S&W, or Browning in that entire building. No jack knife or straight knife that wasn't made in Taiwan or China. What happened to the hobby while I was in mourning?

That's where I was thinking TH. I was living in Denver in the mid '60s and had an Arial Photograph from The Denver Post when they first flooded Dillon when the town was abandoned and about 25-30 feet under water. VERY WEIRD PHOTO, BUILDINGS, STREETS, ALL VISIBLE, WAY STRANGE. Jer
