Hi bottomcoon, hopefully the wind wasn't blowing much over 50 mph when you past through. Yes I fish the Gorge every chance I get. Nice variety of fish there. Lake trout, rainbows, browns, Kokanee, catfish and now our infamous abundant burbot. Carp shooting at its best. Something for everyone here. Next time you roll thru wet a line.

Watched the video.good one. U like how you stressed on the plug.lol. I fish alone 90 percent of the time. And NO I'm not a sales man.Im a Fisher man. That being said. For launching a boat alone or putting it back on the trailer. Nothing beats the Drotto Hitch.absolutly the best 225 bucks you will ever spend on your "Boathole". The just came out with a new version for bass boats. There's no falling in the water NO getting your feet wet loading. Put the boat on the trailer get in the truck pull up the ramp tie down go home. Look it up. Drotto Hitch. Thanks for the video.

Any time I have to fix something new, my go to is you tube. You should have got a parts list with the reel. Could be as simple as a shear pin.?

I'm looking for a casting rod that can throw light lures out as far as possible (1/4oz to 1/2oz).

My favorite location to fish for chain pickerel is full of weeds and lillypads (topwater snag central but can rip through'em) and I want to be able to cast my lures out as far as possible while wading to reach new and deeper spots between and beyond the lillypads. I think an 8-9ft [light/mediumlight/medium] casting rod of some kind may be ideal but it's hard to find a good selection for under $100cad. Anyone have some suggestions for what rod to purchase for 2020 pickerel fishing?

.

(a chain pickerel is basically like a super aggressive 1-4lb pike that can literally launch itself out of the water like a torpedo when it strikes topwater)

.

My favorite lure to use is a topwater popper (weedless trebles in 2020) so my average lure will probably be between 1/4oz and 1/2oz. I won't be able to use my spinnerbaits very much unless I can cast further.

I have an Abu Garcia Ambassadeur 4600c3 baitcaster reel (15yrs old, made in sweden) but I might sell it and replace it out for a budget low profile baitcaster (ex: blackmax/torrent/spartacusplus/ect).

My current rod is a 6'6" ugly stik elite 2pc medheavy casting rod, I struggle to cast further than 80-100ft with my current setup.

I have 30lb braid and 15lb mono available to be used, my 4600c3 is currently using the braid but I might switch to mono if I change the reel.

.

I might consider going for a spinning setup if I sell both my rod+reel instead of just my current rod but as long as I have casting distance with light lures on then i'm happy. I would greatly prefer using a baitcaster though since those are the reels that I learned how to use first.

Hey there, my 2 cents.? Lots of people lots of ideas. None the same. Sounds like you have a good set up. First thing I would start with is fishing line. 1 to 4 lb fish #30 lb braid, #15 lb leader. Sounds like your goin after a 60 lb lake trout.??? I catch alot of huge lake trout on 15 lb power pro and 10 lb P line. It might be a long fight but 10 lb line will haul in a 50 plus pound Laker. And they fight. If you like old Ugly stick stick with it. You will gain alot if distance with a 25 dollar line change.!!!!!
