About 40 years ago, my Wife and I spent a weekend in the Monterey/Carmel area. It wasn't such a good trip, because it just rained and rained. Finally on Sunday afternoon, it let up and got sunny. We went out on the pier to enjoy it a bit before we headed home, and a lot of other folks had the same idea. Lots of people. Along with maybe 80 other people, we were leaning on the railing, looking down at a jellyfish bobbing in the water. Somewhere down the railing, we all heard a little boy say "What is it, Daddy?" He said "It's a jellyfish." The little guy said "Why do they call it a jellyfish?" Now, whenever there's a lot of people, there's always the constant murmer of crowd noise, but it all fell silent as everyone listened to see what kind of wisdom the fella was going to lay on the kid. There was a short pause, and he said "Well, there are two kinds of fish. There are jellyfish and there's peanut butter fish." The crowd busted out laughing and I thought I was going to fall off the pier laughing! True story!
Good luck catching some peanut butter fish, Steve-O!

Hmmmm... Test results, huh? I'm gonna remember that one. Someday, that'll be the only way I can get a pretty lady to handle the goods.

Someday was a long time ago, by the way.

Gordon and Ivey have the best suggestions. LED is the best way to go, even with water proof lights. Murpy's law says that waterproof seals ...AREN'T." Sooner or later, you'll forget to unplug the lights before you back down the ramp, and when the water hits those hot brake light bulbs, you'll need to make another stop at the auto parts store.
Here's one from an electronics professional (me): Heatshrink tubing comes in single layer and double layer. The double layer is pretty much the same as single layer, but with a layer of hot melt glue on the inside. This makes a water proof seal but don't plan on cutting the heatshrink off in the future to rework the splice! It's harder to find, but it's worth the search.

About Vietnam:
There's no way we could have won. The commanders in the field had NO authority, EVERY decision had to be made inside the beltway in Washington. It was ALL politics, we never fought to win.
I was at Da Nang (Air Force). When people ask me how the food was, I tell them that it was so bad that we all considered C-rations to be a huge treat! Our unit flew F-104 Starfighters, the fast little interceptor. But in Vietnam, we used them as bombers. They could carry all of two bombs. Who was the genius behind that knotheaded idea? I'm surprised that we didn't use Piper Cubs as interceptors!
I was glad to serve, but I've always suffered from a deficiency of bulls--t tolerance.

Getting along is simple.

All a fella has to do is romance her, buy her jewelry, bring her chocolate, tell her she's beautiful, rub her feet, take her to dinner, take her dancing, call her, hug her, support her, surprise her, compliment her, smile at her, listen to her, laugh with her, cry with her, believe in her, shop with her, bring her flowers, hold her hand, write love letters to her, and go to the ends of the earth and back again for her.

All she has to do is show up naked, and bring food. The food is optional.

Gotta understand: as seen by most women, marriage is a one-way street!

Bluegill hit like a thunderbolt, but they tire out and stop fighting quickly.
Wonder if the genetic engineers could make a strain that not only gets bigger, but has stamina as well as fight? What a game fish that'd be!

This'd be a good time for me to keep my mouth shut, but - -
Error in the picture! In the time frame that the radio is from, we didn't have the pull tops you see floating there. Anybody else remember going out and forgetting to bring a can opener? It's a real conundrum, you're thirsty but don't want to open your beer with that grubby old fishing knife with all the scales and dried fish guts on it. At least the cans floating there don't have the pull tabs that people used to pull off and throw over the side. There were so many stories about those old style pull tabs killing the fish, I was trying to figure out how to make a lure out of a pull tab!

I've been to Sand point many times, I had to maintain some equipment at the airport there. Never got a chance to fish there but it's a nice scenic lake. As far as scenery, Priest River is near there, and it's gorgeous!

I agree about Pat McManus. Especially loved the stories that featured his buddy Retch Sweeney!

Roseville, just a ways East of Sacramento.

Haven't had a line in the water for awhile, my (very) old Mercury came to the end of its life. I got my hands on a 2000 Evinrude, 90 HP and I'm rigging that to my boat. The boat needed some attention first, and now that's done. Weather permitting, I'll hang the new(er) motor tomorrow. It's surprising how many pieces this puzzle has! Anyway, the COVID stay-at-home order is being eased here in Placer county, so I'll be ready to get out there again.

The stay-at-home and social distancing aren't that big of a problem if you're an old curmudgeon!
