I just saw this on my FaceBook feed. Perhaps you have already seen it, but I thought many of you would like to see it. This is stuff of day dreams! The posting said it came in just under 4 lbs.
At 4 lb it's probably as wide as it is tall. Good Googly!
Must have been a day for the gills I got a bunch of nice ones today but nothing like that. wow.
I would have to have that one mounted! WoW

Welllll- you just might be right. I am suspicious of so much that is happening, it would not surprise me if this was but a scam. I did not have the time or means to do any "fact-checking". Either way, it is sure fun to think about landing such a nice catch!
As Fredfish said last night, this gill was caught near a nuclear facility he would think. I posted it yesterday and had some doubts myself but if true that’s a record that will stand forever. A monster indeed.

Did some checking on state record, it stands at 2.75 lbs, caught in 1983.
After looking at FB gill it is most likely a hybrid.
If you click my link above you will see that picture in fish stories all over the nation.
Which is the true story?
Bluegill hit like a thunderbolt, but they tire out and stop fighting quickly.
Wonder if the genetic engineers could make a strain that not only gets bigger, but has stamina as well as fight? What a game fish that'd be!
Rusty, I grew up in Angola, just up the road! They still doing the auction down your way?
Derek, they sure are doing the auction, I live in Garrett just on the other side of it
