Have you ever actually written down a top 10 list of things you have learned from fishing? Here are mine

1 gas up your vehicular and boat the day before you go fishing and wash your hands a few extra times.
2 don’t use a lot of after shave or cologne before a fishing trip
3 carry an extra life jacket you may save a fishing trip or a life!
4 carry 2 o 3 small plastic trash bags. I was in the Army 1971 -1974 and when you are fishing or in the woods you are required to clean up your area before and after. You could get an Article 15 and cost you cash.
5 double ck safety chains and your hitch
6 carry lots of water and drinks. I don’t drink but in my opinion boating - fishing and alcohol don’t work out very well.
7 ck your drain plug before you launch the boat and carry an extra. Has anyone done this? Yea me too
8 ck your spare tire pressure and if going on a long trip more than 25 miles take 2 spares
9 whenever you stop at a rest area walk around the rig and look it over
10 be more courteous on and off the water. These are my tips sometimes forgotten.

Last Tuesday I went back to Lake Blaylock. Started slow no strikes for 2 hrs. .Then I caught 2 largemouth bass about 1.5 lbs .I had a few more strike and misses .They were really short striking. I caught a couple of 2.0 Lbrs.I had a couple more misses. Then I caught a 4.0 my biggest fish this year. The wind really picked up but I stayed out there .Picked up a couple more small bass. I was getting about ready to go I made one more cast .I tied into another nice bass it was 5.o lbs Again my best of the year .All together I landed 10 bass and lost about 10 . I had a great day. I went to Lake Blalock SC yesterday.I caught 7 bass and a bluegill. Biggest bass was 2. 6 lbs others just dinks. It was my first catch of the year. This lake is 20 miles south of Rutherfordton NC. It’s the closest lake to me. I caught them on a wacky rigged worm and on med. sized crank baits. There was a lot of action on the lake. Carp were mating and really thrashing in the weeds very shallow. There were 2or 3 swimming together. All looked to be about 10 lbs I must have seen about 30.I have never seen them this active. No pictures. I am going back on Friday am.

I have been hooked up with the fishing forum for a while and been reading your stories and thoughts. This my kind of site. I am a Army vet and a retired auto tech 36 years. Originally from Tampa Fla . Been in NC 21 years. I am a bass fisherman. I have a 10.2 oz bass on my wall and a 4.7 oz smallmouth. Both my best catches. This year hasn’t been very good for my fishing. I have a 12 ft V hull with frt and rear trolling motors and a 10 ft Pelican kayak. In the morning I am going fishing with the kayak 20 miles down into SC to fish Lake Blaylock. It is the closest to fish. I go down to Lake Hartwell 4 or 5 times a year. I am happy to meet all of you. Good fishing to you. Bobby M
