Thanks for saying what I was thinking Saw. I might have used a knife. Haven’t used a Senko yet. Does it matter which end?

What encourages them to go into the trap if you don’t provide bait?…🐟on

I don’t bait because I am not trying to attract them and I apparently don’t need to. At the beginning I used a piece of tim foil wrapped chocolate taped to the trip lever. I found the trap empty and the wrapper on top of the trap. Then I taped the chocolate under the trip lever. That worked to get them out of the house. It had been vacant 5 years. Now I just set the trap along the house and they get caught.

Bye little fella!

Those would make a full length fur coat. Just tell her they're mink....naw, she might know the difference.....lol
Wow!!! that's a lot. Once in a while I catch a packrat; they're a real problem too.

Wood Rat same as Pack Rat. Named that way because their nests are full of collected human objects. Know to spit out food to carry a shiny object back to their nest. Shell casings, lids, jewelry, bottle caps, etc. Before I got them out of the house they dragged a small rug into a hole. Rescued the rug and fixed the hold.

Nice catch. Don’t need a boat. Drift the shoreline path. Pretty cool.

I know, I know, we all want both! But if you could choose, which would you take?

Would you rather be out on the water and catch about 15 fish in the 1-3lb category?

Or, catch 3 fish with a 5-8lb fish mixed in?

I’ll take one monster in a day over a bucketful of small. But I am okay as long as I’m not skunked. Don’t like the skunk.

I live in the country in a mobile home and couldn't keep mice out of the house so I made some little boxes that were open on both ends and put poison in them and left them outside. The boxes are just big enough to hold the poison baits so nothing bigger than the mice could access the bait. My plan is kill them outside so they don't get inside; works pretty well.
I also use the bucket method. The first week I got fourteen mice. The next week I only got four mice. After that I only got one or two in a month.

I had mice chew the wires on my vehicles so I put cable guard ( plastic, corrugated and split from one end to the other around the wires and that was that> You can get the cable guard at automotive stores and it works.

Before I put skirting around the house, we were getting several mice every night in traps. I asked my wife if she would like a nice coat from the skinned out mice. She replied most certainly NOT,NOT,NOT!!!!!!!!! I asked her then well how about some nice gloves??? Same answer.......lol. Before we got married, I told her she would need a strong sense of humor and to her credit, she's holding TUFF.....lol

We have Wood Rats in the Missouri Ozarks. I have an unbated Haveaheart
trap sitting outside along the house on the lower level. I have caught 52 in six years. I don’t have much of a heart after they are caught. Keeps them out of the house.

Thanks, mine freezes up. It would be deadly in the winter.

One heck of an adventure anywhere but 100 yards from your house is awesome!

Real close and wild. About as wild as Missouri gets. Need enough water flowing to bring the fish upstream. But not too much water. In the spring and fall there is five feet of water going over the dam at time. Pontoons, canoes and john boats. I keep asking people if they know what a rope is.
Sunday was perfect. Just the right amount of water. Just a few snakes. I’m not suffering from chiggers or tics.

There is my pontoon. Can’t see the house. Camouflaged color and trees coming through the deck. Pinch myself everyday.

Thanks for your responses. I will carefully share with those I know will respectfully fish such a great pristine spot. As it warms up I’ll have to battle the chiggers and tics. It will still be worth it.

Nothing like taking a fellow fisherman into a new territory and having a day like that.
