I see the immense popularity of the Ned rig but I don’t see much mention of this alternate presentation. Do you think Ned is significantly more effective or do you think it’s just more trendy right now?
If so, do you prefer Berkley Chigger or Rage Tail?

I am a primarily bass fisherman and I have some lakes local to me in NY/NJ area that have muskies.
My question is, from people with experience; what rigs and bait do you primarily use for muskies? What type of cover do you look for, and what times of year / conditions do they prefer? In the next year or so, I want to slam a big Muskie and I wanna do it without paying a guide service.
I have experience with chain pickerel, but otherwise I’ve never caught any Northerns or Redfins (which I imagine behave closer to the muskies as they are larger)

I have a new spinning reel that I’ve used once and after a couple cast I noticed that it started to get hard to reel when the spool reaches the position closest to the body of the reel. I took it apart and haven’t found anything. Any ideas on what it could be? Also, it is a shimano sienna if that helps.

I’m mostly a fly fisherman, but this time of year I have access to some excellent lake/brown/rainbow trout fishing from shore that’s best done with lures and spoons. There are so many options my head is spinning. So far, the 3/4oz little Cleo has been the LT’s favorite. Any heavy (for long casts in wind) lure recommendations for trout?
Thank you!

I know basically nothing about trolling motors but I got my kayak used and it came with one
I have a Jackson kilroy HD and I have a Newport 55lb thrust kayak series trolling motor with the rudder and handle extension.
The guy I bought the kayak from included a mount he built to attach it to the rails behind the seat but he also gave me a setup that I could use to attach on the back.
I don't think I'd be able to reach directly behind me to mount it on the back. Am I risking being super unstable mounting it on the side?
It is setup with wiring so there is cabling and sockets on both ends so I'm able to put the battery wherever I want to offset the motor weight but I'm picking up a lithium battery so it's not crazy heavy.
Or is there some cool way to attach it to the back that solves all my problems.

Usually clean trout, bass, and panfish. Previously have just been using a chefs knife for the last three years and that doesn’t cut it (pun intended) anymore, so let me know what you guys use and like!!

I've been looking at stuff online, and even a possible one on Amazon. But mostly I've came across high prices, and shady websites. The whole reason I bought the fish finder in the first place was for the nautical chart, but I cant seem to figure it out. My fish finder is a dragon fly, and takes sd cards. Thank you in advance!!

Is there a guide on how to pick your lure when going fishing? I understand how to pick what colors to use, but don’t understand how to know when to switch lures. I’ve been using square crankbait recently just because of the season, and thought it was a smart idea to get to the bottom without getting stuck. Just looking for rule of thumbs or guides.

So I'm fairly new to saltwater fishing, and I've set my eyes on the on the Daiwa BG 2500 reel which has a mono line rating of 6-10lb line weight. I've been seeing rods mostly of 4-10lb and 6-12lb. Would it be best to pair the reel with the higher weight (6-12lb) rod, so the rod would have a slightly higher rating or go with the lower weight rod (4-10)? I would like to be able to use this set up for freshwater streams and lakes as well.
I'm in Maine. Trying to target fish as small as brook trout and panfish but as big as pollock, sea bass, and big mouth.
Any advise appreciated

I now have a small backpack full of soft plastics. I keep them in the bags but some soft plastics come in boxes so I’ll leave them in the box but they also take up a lot of space. It’s kinda a mix of salt and bass so I gotta split that up better. Idk it just seems like a nightmare now haha

Today I was fishing my favorite creek walking down a clear section of the bank when I saw a game trail through some trees leading towards the creek a little further down. Upon arriving at an undiscovered hole, I saw massive fish on the opposite bank.
I'd describe this hole as a run 40 ft long, 15 ft wide, probably about 2-4 ft deep, and slightly curved with fallen trees covering most of the entrance and exit of this hole. The overhead foliage on each bank barely allows me to stand on my side and stretches up and away as it reaches the center of the run. There were also larger branches on the opposite bank protruding maybe 2-4 ft out into the water and behind the last branch on the opposite bank of this hole were two or three trout roughly the size of my hand and forearm with there backs and fins slightly protruding from the water.
This run has a couple more tame trout in the center but I wanted the bigguns in the back. I have a similar spot on a different creek, restricted room means spinner are out, I tried a weight and worm but either I wasn't getting it close enough or they weren't interested.
I threw my jig a few times but they didn't seem to interested in that either. How do you guys fish densely wooded banks?

I have tried looking for lefthanded baitcast reels that are under 100 dollars, but I cant find any nearby (Maybe because its an oddly specific thing). Honestly, amazon has a bunch of weird off brands that I don't really trust, so where can I look for lefthanded baitcast reels?

I found there are too many new lures to buy and still lots of them are on the way while my lure boxes has already piled up. I always think I would need a new one. Is anybody else do that too?

And how are they better as opposed to regular barrel swivel?
It just occured to me that the majority of the time i am also tying a knot to the snap swivels when i could be doing the same with a barrel swivel.
I suppose they could be used for artificial rules snap rings, wouldnt i be able to just tie snap swivels to the lures?

I mostly fish catch and release. I always flatten all the barbs on my hooks with pliers because it limits the damage I’m doing to the fish. I already feel somewhat guilty about catch and release fishing so this just makes me feel a little better. I was fishing with a family member the other day and he said you don’t need to do that “if you know how to remove a hook”. I thought that was a stupid take. What do my fellow catch and release guys think?
