My better half is getting very good with her quilting but not surprising she is from a long line of quilters.
The blocks are hand sewed. And she machine quilted it freehand and with with rulers.
She used 10 bobbins of thread in this quilt and their is 210 yards of thread on each bobbin. The squares she used a ruler all the feathers she done freehand.
Definitely nice. That’s a skill!!

Very nice work, Mike. The wife isn’t a quilter but has knitted and crocheted her whole life. We’ve got stacks of doilies and blankets. Everyone in our extended family has a full sized blanket. She is ALWAYS creating something…

Understand - thank you!!!
As the son and grandson of quilters, I can sooo appreciate your wife's mad skills if she was "free-handing" a quilting pattern like that. Mom always had a friend do the final, and I remember as a child, going with her to watch the friend bring it all together. A fading art, to be sure.
So....does she have a room jam-packed with stacks and bags and drawers full of cloth and threads ? Mom did....one of the most tearful of times after she passed, clearing out that room and passing the contents to others of her ilk, as none of my 3 sisters were interested. Almost claimed a couple of piles and a machine or two for myself, but would have had to transport all of it 2000 miles to my home in Oregon, and I, like my parents, always have too many projects that I have yet to get to, already.
Kudos again to your wife and her expertise. I have 3 quilts my Mom made and one my Grandmother made, that I still use....highly cherished (and PRACTICAL ARTISTRY) items, to be sure !

Outstanding work your wife has done there, she definitely has the Gift. Tell her congratulations on a Gorgeous Quilt!
I remember my Mother and Grandmother doing Quilts when I was a Kid. I Still have one of my Grandma’s she made for Me when I got married.
