Do you adjust the lure\jig to be 8" above the river bottom in deepest part of hole you fish? have it suspended even higher?

With the jig I try to stay in the bottom 12”.
The worm can tumble along like bobber dogging, or suspended like the jig.
The worm bites are vicious. I love to see those!

Thanks for the gear pics Fishin'maniac!
what # braid are you running? Mono leader?

I really love the 30# Sufix 832 in Neon Lime for bobber fishing.
I’ve had good luck with PLine 10# Floroclear as my leader material.

I would too. We used to do a bunch of bobber fishing on Sandy at the Girl Scout hole (spring chinook) mainly below Pipeline and Dodge Park until the jerks with little competitive knee kayaks ( hard boats ) got mad when inflatable rafts came down stream through where they were surfing waves. There was a news article and State Police and Sheriff imvestigation because they put nails in a bunch of the rocks in the area with power hammers to pop our inflatables.

We also use to bobber fish up at Herman Creek in Cascade Locks for Summer Steelhead.

It’s been slow throughout the entire area of SW Washington for Steelhead this winter. I changed strategy today. With the morning temps in the 20’s, I decided to skip the morning and wait until the water warmed a bit in the afternoon. I guess you could say that it may have made a difference.
It made for a nice dinner for several family members tonight

This reminded me of a time I was fishing with a bobber and a guy told me you could not catch trout using bobbers. Right after he said that I caught an 14 incher.

Gorgeous fish and thanks for the info, if I ever get to where I can fish for those.
Jeremy, that is really awful about the nails. So dangerous.

Very nice fishing, maniac! Has been very slow here on the rivers of mid-coast of Oregon. Nice to see you had a good day!

Confidence in your method combined with a fair amount of knowledge and skill go a long way toward success with any fishing method.
I have learned a lot over the years by talking with fishermen who were using methods different from mine. I’ve also had fishermen get really upset and threaten me because I was catching fish and they weren’t. 🤷🏻‍♂️

She was plump with eggs which tends to wash out the flesh a bit, but she was still nice and light orange.
We’re going to have the second fillet for dinner tonight.
