@c-17trainer- You’re mistaken. Again, the Statist or King George mindset. Fishing is not a “privilege” that needs to be paid for. It is in fact an inalienable right. A Liberty. You do not need permission from anyone to feed yourself, to harvest a few of Gods fish that he created from Gods waters that God created. as long as you do not violate the Liberty of others. @SamofVukcan- Believing that purchasing a fishing license somehow ensures plentiful fishing for (our grandchildren) is a fallacy. It is simply incorrect. Of course i am against overfishing, using vast nets or dynamite, etc. Again, I am talking about the common freshwater bank fisherman. They do a helluva less damage to the environment and disruption of a peaceful day than the douchebag jet-skiers, powerboaters, yard runoff chock-full of pesticides, other pollutants and water oxygen deprivation . not to mention the invasive fish and plant species. Follow the money. Your purchase of a fishing license is for nothing more than to generate revenue. plain and simple.
If you want to get one because you feel that your doing something good, then great. more power to you. If not, then i wish you all full bellies and tight lines. Remember, for many freshwater fisherman, it’s not hobby, it’s survival. Show some compassion for your fellow Americans that might be hungry, don’t call the cops on them. All i know is that if i see some busy-body harassing some old homeless bank fisherman about what’s in his spacklebucket, they are going to get an earfull from me. at the very least.

@CaptJim - I feel sorry for you. Not just because your lack of compassion, but for your authoritarian mindset. The concept of Liberty escapes you. You will lick boots and fall in line without question like a good little communist.
I encounter people that have no home address or identification to obtain a fishing license even they wanted to and had money to do so. Many don’t even speak English. I’m sure your ancestors were immigrants at some point. As long as they aren’t violating other peoples rights, private property, etc, who cares if they have a stringer of perch or bluegill or catfish to eat? Did the State stock them also? You probably would call the cops on them wouldn’t you? (from a safe distance of course) “If you want to eat fish, buy them at the store” is an ignorant comment. Having Super bowl tickets on the 50 yard line is a “privilege”, feeding yourself to survive is not. Tight lines Comrade Darren.

Just more crap from a poacher who knows absolutely nothing about me. You say I would run and hide while I turned some one in, yet you hurl insults from the safety of the far side of the country. If I turned some one in I would stand there until the warden showed up,(and have) he might need a witness. At 5' 10" and 270lbs not to many poachers will throw a punch at me, but if he did we could also add assault and battery and senior abuse to the charges. You also miss quote me. I said you want CHEAP fish go to the supermarket not if you want to eat fish. Obviously reading is not your forte, or the truth just does not fit into your scenario. Yes I take protecting our fisheries very seriously. I have spent the last 40 years of my life trying to enhance and protect our fisheries from A-holes like you.

So where these guys just hungry too? This is what should happen to poachers. Should have lost all related gear and vehicles as well.
Just sayin’

@Plumbob- Again, i am talking about the common freshwater bank fisherman, not deer hunters or elephant poachers or whaling ships.
Because i believe that the freshwater fishing license is mostly a sham to generate revenue, which it is indeed a racquet, doesn’t make me a criminal or a poacher or sovereign that thinks laws don’t apply to me or that I’m ruining everything for future generations.
That’s silly. The Supreme law of the land is the Constitution/Bill of Rights, common natural law under God. Did you know that your 4th Anendment right completely disappears when you sign your fishing license? Are you ok with armed enforcers shouting PAPERS PLEASE! while they search and or confiscate your cooler and tackle box and rods even if you have zero fish in your possession? If they passed a law that said no one can eat a bologna sandwich with mustard on tuesdays or face a heavy fine, and be caged if you failed to pay said fine, would just blindly “comply because it’s the law?”
But again i digress. I suggest everyone mind their own business unless there is a blatant violation of personal liberties or the environment.
Me with a bucket full of panfish isn’t the end of the world. been doing it for over 50 years and there are just as much of them as ever. But feel free to approach myself and my other unlicensed brothers on the riverbank and chastise us about our criminality to our faces.

In the last paragraph Frankie admits he is a poacher. He also admits he has done it for years. I think the last paragraph sums up Frankie....poacher.

@CaptJim- i somehow seriously doubt you would do anything of the sort except go for swim. But i have no doubt you would rat and snitch and have law enforcement come save you. Just mind your own business. “40 years of protecting hatcheries”. protecting them from what? cormorants? Hatcheries are just part of the scam. Weak GMO sterile frankenfish that true fishermen have zero interest in catching or eating. Even the poor scoff at them. I don’t have a fishing license. never did, never will. So, what are you going to do about it? Nothing. except maybe call
me a criminal poacher. But sure. feel free to snitch.

Graywulff,

Thanks for the sentiment, I feel silence is what let's poachers like Frankie get away with it. We need to expose them for what they are, thieves that prey on our resources. I really do not know why Frankie is on this forum that is 99% honest fisherman. No one here is buying his crap.

@CaptJim Speak for yourself. If you can live with yourself being a commie rat, then hey, good for you. There were “honest fishermen” thousands of years before your beloved overlords imposed a freshwater fishing license mandate. Gee, those native americans and colonists were nothing more than thieves for not asking permission and paying a fee to eat catfish, shad, crappie, etc. Those species of fish are still plentiful around these parts, despite my modest stringers every few weeks. With no help from the State, or it’s hatcheries , or licenses/fees. I only want them to keep pollution under control with my tax money. Keep licking those boots Stasi. I invite you to walk along these riverbanks and call my brothers thieves poachers and criminals to their faces.

Obviously no one is going to change his attitude or behavior. Some folks get their jollies by trying to rattle good folks’ cages. He seems to be one of them. He isn’t even proud enuff of his opinion to register his location. Turning away or closing our eyes to blatant lawbreaking should be reported to proper authorities but even though it is admitted as such here, without physical evidence there is nothing to be done. This person seems to be using the Stage as a forum to air his personal grievances with the laws with which honest users of federal and state lands and waters abide by as part of the norms for the upkeep and enhancement of our fisheries and wildlands. Even if his arguments had merit, which I believe they don’t I am of the view that somehow or another the attitude expressed will come back to bite him. He also quite obviously refuses to take his agenda before the duly constituted authority which has the power to change the system which he seems to feel is so egregiously wrong!

@ Greywulff - maybe you’d be happier living in North Korea since you obviously have zero concept of Liberty, or the plight of those less fortunate than you .
IT’S THE LAW! IT’S THE LAW! OBEY! COMPLY!
Funny how we hardly ever get bothered by wardens or rangers on the riverbanks, because they know we are doing no harm, and it would be mostly fruitless to even try to ticket or fine us, since most are downtrodden and are simply fishing for a lunch. But unfortunately, it’s the only the Statist douches like yourself and others on this thread that insist others do as they do because ITS THE LAW! I got news for you Comrade, the common (law-abiding) American breaks about ten laws per day on average and doesn’t even know it. So mind your own business about who has a license and who doesn’t before you get in trouble someday.

Wulffy no need to rat out Frankie, he just did on a public forum. We all know big brother watches us in various ways. Well Frankie the next knock on the door just might be the law.

Oh by the way Frankie, you didn't answer one of my questions. Were you drafted or volunteered in to the service?

@plumBob - ahh I’ll bet you just love Big Brother don’t you? keeps you safe and feeling warm and fuzzy right? You keep proving my point about the authoritarian mindset and Karen/Darren snitch culture plaguing America with each of your comments. Sure, I welcome any State/Federal agents/ wardens/rangers/extortion officers to knock on my door at anytime and ask about my freshwater fishing license status. See, I know my rights., apparently you do not.
In my opinion, anyone that purchases a freshwater fishing license is a sucker and a chump, they will never admit that they have been punked or scammed no matter how much they study it or follow the money. It’s called cognitive dissonance.
My veteran status has nothing to do with the topic at hand. There hasn’t been a draft since Vietnam. I volunteered. twice. Honorably discharged twice. So why should a veteran be exempt from a fishing license if it’s all about conservation?, but the 85 year old immigrant is a poacher criminal for harvesting a few catfish?
