The Pharmacists at Walgreens here in Winchester gives them and BCBS covers it but if it cost a $1000 I'd go get one after this. I was stupid last fall when I got my Covid, flue and Pneumonia boosters they ask if I wanted it. I thought "I've never had Shingles before" live and learn.

I remember when my Dad got it. One of the few times I ever saw him cry. As soon as they had the vaccine out, I got the vaccine.

AU, If I thought crying would help I'd be squalling like a toddler. Not only have I not been able to go fishing but I haven't been able to see my new grandson either, Shingles are contagious and I could give him the Chicken Pox sure don't want that.

Hopefully, it's short-lived Ivey. Just an FYI for folks. As a caregiver, some of my clients (most have plenty of money), have had the shingles vaccine. I've been told insurance doesn't cover the vaccination. Two shots are required about 3 weeks apart. The total cost -- $400. I'm not suggesting you shouldn't get the shingles vaccine. Just thought people should know about the cost. If your insurance covers this vaccine, let me know. Maybe coverage varies.

Wife and I got the vaccine Medicare and insurance paid. I have GEHA

Sorry to hear Ivey. I hope it clears up soon and you can get back to fishing, and more importantly, seeing that grandson of yours. Prayers for a speedy recovery!!

I had shingles, too. It is very painful and lasts a while. But I am not a fan of the vaccinations for it. I got the first shot and it made me sick again. I'll take my chances without the vaccine.

Yes you can get it more than once, I have two sister-in-laws who have both had it more that twice. My doctor told me as soon as I get over this to go get a vaccine and I'm going ASAP. Thought I was over the worst but today it has come back with a vengeance

Hey Ivey, sorry to hear the shingles issue you are dealing with. I have heard that it is really caused by stress so try to destress to get through your current situation.

I had shingles in my eye a couple of years ago and it was horrific. I had had them about ten yrs prior to that on my side. I wouldn't wish shingles on my worst enemy. So please everyone, get your shingles vaccine!
