Fellas I haven't been out fishing in a couple weeks now, the shoulder really slowed me down but I've also had the Shingles. This stuff is MISERABLE and very, very painful it's my fault because I didn't get the vaccine when it was offered me last fall.
I know these days the word vaccine can really be a volatile subject but I highly suggest if you had the Chicken Pox when you were a kid and haven't yet,,,Go get a Shingles vaccine... I can't sit back lay down, stand ,walk, or sleep without the painful burning sensation that pulses with nerve pain that starts in the middle of my back and runs around to the front on my right side that hurts so bad it's hard to think. If one person doesn't have to go thru agony this it's worth the flack.

I feel for you guys with Shingles. I never had Chicken Pox. Only thing I had was Mumps on one side not even the Measles. Good Luck.

Keep on mind that you can still get shingles even if you haven't had chicken pox.

They gave me Gabipenten and an antiviral also and I've been taking it but can't really tell it helps that much. It's kinda eased up some but still hurts so much it's hard to think. I can't imagine this lasting 6 months, the lack of sleep alone is maddening, then there's the pain indescribable and I'm used to living in pain. I'll try the lavender and ES bath. Mine doesn't have much of a rash like you see on the internet just a small spot 4 to 5 inches around on my side and a few single places across the back kinda like what you're talking about more like several spider bites in a row but the doc says Shingles I was surprised, just wish it would run it's course and be gone.

One of my clients had it for two years. Let's hope yours don't last that long.

I had the chicken pox when I was a kid. Everyone told me that "now your immune system can handle that virus and you can never get chicken pox again." So if I'm immune to the chicken pox virus, how can it come back as shingles? I just don't understand medicine, I guess.

So if you never had chickenpox and someone you know has shingles, if their rash has turned to blisters and you touch the blisters, you could contract the virus and get chickenpox.

If you’ve been vaccinated for chickenpox, you’re also protected from shingles as an adult.

Had shingles twenty years ago. On my head. Went to my eye but stopped before it took out my retina. The eye doctor can still see the damage. Vaccine is the way to go. While you’re at it get a pneumonia vaccine. My uncle who would get pneumonia 2-3 times a year never got it again after getting the vaccine. A lot of older folks die of pneumonia

That's the way I had it about 15 yrs ago Mau. Only on one side of my head , down to the eyebrow but down my nose. It didn't get into the eye socket, or eyeball. I still have nerve damage in my forehead. I'll definitely get the vaccine this year. I don't ever want that again.

Hopefully, it's short-lived Ivey. Just an FYI for folks. As a caregiver, some of my clients (most have plenty of money), have had the shingles vaccine. I've been told insurance doesn't cover the vaccination. Two shots are required about 3 weeks apart. The total cost -- $400. I'm not suggesting you shouldn't get the shingles vaccine. Just thought people should know about the cost. If your insurance covers this vaccine, let me know. Maybe coverage varies.

My pharmacy was free for the shingles vacc. And any other shot I have had.

Crazy. It sporadically hurt like crazy and I would yell it hurt so much. My wife asked me if I had to yell…I said yes I do can’t help it. Very sharp pain.

And it very hard to sleep, not because of a steady pain, but rather random JABS of extreme pain. 1

Had it 3 times. First one I was in my 20's. Sure did hurt. The next two were internal. No rash but hurt the same.
