Not sure what happened to this guy but the hole is close to 22 cal. Could have been bait at one time I guess. Maybe a bow fishing survivor. What do you folks think?

Looks like bait

When fishing, you need co-operation from BOTH sides, not so with hunting.

I'm thinking that the "hole" looks to be in just about the right SPOT to have passed a hook through it, for bait... ¿Where was it finally killed?

It was caught in Lake Ellen Cascade Wisconsin. It does look like a good place for a hook. The indent around the hole makes me wonder if it was shot.

Shooting an animal is deliberate; catching a fish is not

I've always been told that: "Ya ain't gonna catch any fish, unless you've got a hook in the water!"... ¿Exactly how does a man go about "accidentally catching a fish"? (Not counting "wrong" species.)

¿Do they have big catfish in that lake, Bob? (I've heard people recommend bluegill and etc,, for catfish bait.)

Nothing BD, when I go fishing I’m hunting for the fish just like when I went hunting I was hunting for the game I was after.🧐🤔

Fishing is generally less physically demanding than hunting. I can fish all day with old worn out knees. Had to give up hunting a few years ago for the same ailments. Enjoyed both equally.

I'm guessing that depends upon your "method of fishing"... If you're strictly talking "angling"; then, I guess I "can kinda see you're point";...

I haven't seen any over about 2 lbs but could be. Northern pike, walleye, LM bass, crappie, bluegill, carp, bull heads and Catfish. Haven't seen any bass over 4 lbs. But I use to travel alot and only was able to fish that lake 20-30 times in the last 30 years. So there may be surprises coming. I do use bluegill for bass bait.

I hunted birds and taught my sons to do so until my knees and my dog gave out. I gradually got more fun out of fishing than hunting and my sons are now doing the same. In my old age I don't want to kill animals but I still enjoy eating fish and meat. Fishing is easier than hunting and is still fun in old age. Mostly listening to you old guys telling fish stories😎.
