I thought about that before , you can almost always put the fish back in the water , but you canโt put the game back on there way .
I fish, fillet them, and eat them. Not much remorse. I don't hunt. Don't have the heart to shoot an animal or bird, I don't dislike people that hunt, and I'm a meat eater.
Not much, but it is much easier to catch and release a fish than a deer ๐

You canโt shoot and release.
Fishing accidents rarely end in death or dismemberment.
Fishing seasons are generally longer and limits are usually more generous.
Fishing can be less expensive that hunting, but the cheapest hunter will always spend more than a frugal fisherman.
Are there hunting tournaments?
Fishermen** can drink, smoke, eat, talk, read, listen to a radio, talk on the phone, chat with a partner while fishing. Even catch some in the process. Hunters, not so much.
Fishing is usually legal at night.
Those are some differences, but physiologically:
relating to the branch of biology that deals with the normal functions of living organisms and their parts.
relating to the way in which a living organism or bodily part functions.
Then the single answer could be:
Hunters hunt animals that obtain their oxygen from air
Fishermen** hunt fish that obtain their oxygen from water.
**Please substitute fisher person or fisher women as needed.
You got that right Fred. Whew. The biggest difference that I can see is that fishing, you can take a buddy or two or three. With hunting, you are usually on your own

If I'm hunting and my equipment goes BANG, it worked properly.
If I'm fishing and my equipment goes BANG, there was an equipment malfunction.

You stired up a can of worms Big Dog. Yes you can catch and release fish. And yes you can shoot an animal and watch it walk away. You shoot it with a Camera not a gun. If your looking for food you keep the fish or shoot the pray with a gun. As far as night, you can hunt as well as fish. Racoon and hog hunting can be done at night. Right now it cost more in gas for me to fish then hunt. Just saying.

Good answers. Dig deeper Gordon. Physiologically or psychologically even.

the goal of fishing is "catching" the goal of hunting is "killing" While you may choose to kill your catch in fishing Hunting you don't catch your kill unless you are duck hunting and it is falling from the sky on top of you. This of course means bow fishing or spear fishing are not really fishing but hunting
