Love all fresh caught sea food. Draw the line at farmed fish of any kind for 2 reasons
1. Steroids antibiotics and damage they do to bodies of water
2. Spent part of my life as a commercial fisherman and will always support them 🤷♂️
Any fish out of the harbors on the Oregon coast. They all smell like diesel fuel and I’m not sure diesel fuel is something we should be consuming. I used to let my grandkids catch crab off the docks but we put em all back. Nasty looking and smelling stuff.
Steer clear of tilapia for sure and anything else farm raised. Swimming around in their own messes.
Pike are good if cooked in a pressure cooker (InstaPot is the modern pressure cooker) with salt, pepper and whatever spice you like. Cook ‘um small bones and all. Remember most canned fish are cooked with the bones.
What Wolf Bay said! Works for any fish. Make fisk cakes from them after pressure cooking. Or fish salad with mayo, onion and pickle relish

I’d consider Chinese farm raised talapia and other raised fish to be bad seafood. That’s about it. In the hands of the right chef I believe all fresh seafood is fantastic!
I don't eat Talapia since I learned they were used by Salmon farms to clean the poo left by the salmon in the pens then sold as people food

I guess I've eaten my last "farm-raised" Talapia!!! One critter that I REALLY used to enjoy eating, was steamed mussels; but, after encountering a few of them, (¿Maybe 3 total, over the period of a couple years?) that tasted like "what a human turd smells like"; I just CAN'T, anymore.
I would rather eat creek mud than Tilapia.
I like most fish that I catch. I don't like fish that taste fishy or smell fishy. I do not buy fish as I know they are not fresh. I do not order fish or eat fish in a restaurant. If I don't catch it I don't eat it.

I've been told by more than 1 older man: "It should smell like ICE."

I agree with J…, farm fish are disgusting… and tilapia is worse…
