Interesting idea and a good one. I think water type is the guide line here. The cold and cooler water fisheries are much different than the warm water fisheries. Maybe something like the northeast with its smaller cooler lakes, rivers and streams plus salt water. southeast with warmer water and salt might also include the gulf coast states. Perhaps a third zone is the upper Midwest including the Great Lakes and possible the Great Lake portion of New York State . Kind of concentrates the walleye, pike, fresh water salmon and ice fishing. . The Pacific Northwest becomes a logical division for the fourth and the Pacific Southwest is the fifth and the rest of inland country comprising much of the fresh warm water fishery makes up the sixth.

I will also say you do a great job with this forum, good work man. I hope you have time to actually fish.

I read this forum frequently but not exclusively because much of the information I seek is often not discussed here.
That is to say that fish species vary in many states as well as climate conditions and even state regulations.
It may be helpful to create topics by state, which allows us to research information more specifically and easily...

This approach was where I though I was going with comments about the PNW waters as an example, before Fix or Fish jumped on it. I noticed yesterday (after absence due to illness) an update-input-request from Admin to more closely ID the fishing locations associated with my geography. I still think this is a good idea to help both newbies and regional residents looking for help, advice or locations to pursue. And clearly, if we look at the new inputs, there's a need for it on a regular basis.

Which is not to say I, like everyone else, can't go down the daily list and look for items of interest in our own or others' backyards (including some off-the-boat humor from time to time)--that's what got us here in the first place.

But I don't think that adding features to help others across the country will ever be a bad thing, and I don't feel insecure about anybody suggesting improvements to what is already a great site.

Yes, good job always, ADMIN! Rest of us: loosen the anxiety levels.
