If you haven’t tried a “chatter bait” give it a try. I’ve caught bass, hybrids and even 6-8 lb catfish with it! Best of luck
I'm in Iowa and this year has not been good. First tons of rain, flooding and swelled lakes. Then extreme heat. Now it cooling down and getting a few. I caught a nice long pike but it had no fight and looked like it had been starving it was so thin. Some say all of the rain caused runoff of chemicals from farming to get in the water and make the fish sick.

Well, that can't be true. The United States is committed to preserving the environment and would never allow farm runoff to endanger fish or wildlife populations. The cause must be something else.
Get sun reports the sun believe it or not it effects everything from earthquakes to all living things. There is alot of websites out there to check the solar winds speeds and ect... Also bass absolutely love crawfish use in deep water with no weight or very little weight and let it have plenty of line to crawl around on bottom.
Bass here in Texas will eat just about anything from a live squirrel to a beer can, but they can be moody about when and where their biting. If you can figure out where they are at, what part of the lake, and about how deep your half way there. Our bass here when they are not biting tend to be in the hardest dam place to fish they can find, but never the less you still can walk away with some good fish. Truth is when they are not biting is when most guys catch their biggest fish ever, and this is why, if they are not hungry the best way to catch bass is to piss them off! This is a good time to use those weird luewers you bought to be funny. You know, the hula girl, the Budwiser can with hooks on it, that 12gage shotgun shell, anything they don't see much of that they will take as an invasion of their space, and territory. If they don't know what it is they will hit it hard to run it off, remember, they aren't hungry, their mad. So be prepared to set that hook fast, and when you do don't be surprised if it feels like you just hooked on to a tree stump because who does the defending of the territory? None other than the biggest, and baddest of the lake. So brother don't get discouraged, you just may be one cast from having to clean about half the crap off of your livingroom wall fo that fish makes a man's jaw drop down to his boots when he says, "#$&@ DAM! WHERE DID THAT COME FROM!?" I'll let you take it from there friend, best of luck to you brother, now go get'em, and come back and tell us about it, deal?
A good rattle trap is right. If their not feeding then you have to get their attention, make them mad enough to want to bite. That's what it's all about, right?
