If I had known, we could've traded houses. One of my favorite lakes is Lyon's Reservoir. I'll get over there later this year - been a couple of years. You ever go there? And isn't Kennedy Meadows up the Sonora Pass? Another nice place - rent you a hoss and go packing into the wilderness.
Greg, I got back into fishing a little earlier than you, but not by much. What I did was to find a local fly fishing club, and joined that. The expertise they’ve shared has been invaluable, since a large percentage of these guys have spent every available minute in pursuit of the sport they love, throughout their entire lives. Still, they’ve been welcoming to a neophyte like me, and actually seek out new people to join. The “fishouts” have been fun and educational. I know I’ve caught far more fish than I would have trying to figure all this out on my own. The club gets discounts on equipment and guided trips that are very affordable. We get involved in a lot of environmental issues, as well. It’s a great way to get back into it all.

Welcome to the Stage CF. I wish I had had someone to show me how 20 years ago when I really got interested in fly fishing. I still do a little, but I'm truly awful at it. I still enjoy it and have a lot of fun.
Any tips on croppie fishing at Berryessa? IE good locations?
Thanks,
GW
I posted this in a separate post. Does anyone know if the Sac area shad run is over? Can I try on the Feather or Yuba with any hope of success or are they finished?

Sorry buddy but, I haven't gone one time this year. If I remember correctly (big if) I'd still fish for them this time of year up high on the Yuba, Hallwood area. And with the water situation, who knows?

Yeah that's what I was thinking. I'm heading up that way this week. Do you know of a spot with access to the Yuba before it gets to Englebright? I know there won't be any shad after that.
And dude -about them oysters.
https://hogislandoysters.com/recipes. Hog Island is over on Tomales Bay. The hog wash and the chipotle bourbon butter are easy to make and they are delicious. The butter for bbq'd and the wash for the raw ones. I prefer them raw.
Hello friends, I was fishing Folsom today and was lucky enough to score this nice smallie on a deep diver In about 18ft of water. Thought the lake was going to be a bust because of the low levels but actually wasn’t too bad. I saw lots of fish and will probably try again if it cools down in the next week or so. Good luck out there!

Thanks for the tip !!
I have not caught a small mouth this year in the lakes that I fish ? I know the water level is very low in all the lakes, I'm catching large mouth and Kentucky spotted bass but no smallies. I'll try going deeper.
Thanks. Andy Bassman
I like fishing Don Pedro and New Melones and Tullock lake.
Have a great fishing and safe times on the water
