I've never written anything on the "Fishing Stage" before, but follow it regularly.....I live in Redding (CA)---Pretty much grew up here, but have been 'around'....5 years in Alaska---talk about some amazing fishin' !!!! I was a helicopter mechanic and spent lots of time in the 'bush', where you couldn't get there any other way than helicopter.....Had some great times....but, back to California....I'm 73, retired electrical contractor...I mainly fish Shasta Lake these days with on old high school buddy....We do what I call "old man fishin'"---troll the perimeter of the lake using mostly crank baits....winter's are usually real slow due to the cold weather and the fish "suspending"....spring and summer pick up considerably as the water temp. increases....We went out yesterday and hooked 11, (bass) -- the week before, 19.....Shasta's a big, beautiful lake with lots of fish----bass, trout, crappie, cats, even sturgeon....lots of tourists, so there are alot of folks out there "playin'"..... the bass fishin' is fantastic and if you live in the area, you should definitely check it out..... The Sacramento River runs thru Redding too and altho I don't fish it much, it's an incredible river for trout, steelhead and salmon....striped bass too...... I also lived in Trinity County for many years too (Next one over from Shasta Co. --Redding--)----I lived right on the Trinity River for years and that's another amazing river for steelhead, salmon and big brown trout.... Over-all, the "North State" is full of fishin' spots.......... Good luck to all of you out there and tight lines !!!!
I've never written anything on the "Fishing S... (show quote)

Bk welcome and thanks for posting info on Shasta! I’ve been wanting to go out there and give it a shot and after your post I’m thinking I might head up there soon thanks again for your input!

Alright alright alright. A lot of you already know who I am, but for those who don't, I've been on the Fishing Stage since August of 2019. I was born and raised in northern Indiana in the woods and corn fields just outside of South Bend. Yes I am a Irish football fan. Left there in 1968 to join the Navy and I've never been back except for short visits. Mrs Spirit and I settled in San Diego in 1976 and I retired from the Navy a Chief Electronics Technician in 1989. Took a job with Hewlett Packard in 1998 and we moved to central California and here we be. I retired for good from that job last year in September. I have fished all over California, fresh and salt. I get over to the coast about a half dozen or so times a year to fish for surf perch and eat oysters on Tomales Bay. I do not fish for bass unless I go with a bass fisherman. I target trout almost exclusively. I used to do a lot of fishing for catfish. I have not caught a trout since December of 2019. I'm familiar with most of the lakes in the Sacramento area and the mountains to our west and east. If you want information on any if these, give me a buzz.

I really don't know. As close as that lake is to me, I'm not a bass guy, I go more for trout, and as far as I know there are no trout in that lake, I know dfw does not stock it. Having said that, bass fishing is generally good up in the creek arms and where the bear comes in. Just don't go on the weekends - it's a party lake. Or spend the night and do some cat fishing, there are some nice ones in there.

Nowhere near Lincoln. Best bass lakes close to Lincoln are Collins, Camp Far West, Rollins, Folsom and the Delta.

Yes there are. Quite a few from around here. If I were you I would start a new post and ask specifically about bass fishing in this area. Post it in "location specific" topics. You'll get lots of replies I'm sure. Or you could PM NoCal Steve, he lives a little north of here and is very familiar (and successful) with most of the local lakes.
