of Wisconsin, while fishing Lake Havasu by drop-shotting a night-crawler, hooked and landed a new world record redear sunfish ! The
fish, which measured 17 inches
with a 20-in. girth, weighed in at
6.3 lbs., beating the recent record
of 5.5 lbs. (which also came from Lake Havasu in Feb., 2014) !

It was caught in 25 ft. of water in
California Bay, about a half-mile
north of Copper Canyon on the
California side of the lake !

Wow, now That is a Sunfish!! Thanks for sharing

Article didn't say whether he kept
it or not, but I'm thinking he had it mounted, as it WAS a World Record !

That said, this was the THIRD
sunfish over 5 lbs. to make the
news - the other two were the previous record and one other
that weighed slightly less than
the first one !

As stated, there will probably be
many more big 'sunnies' (and
bass) coming from that area
due to their high-protein diet of 'quagga' mussels !

I would have to ASSUME; that in the time it must've taken him, to grow THAT big, that he's probably "gotten his jollies" more than ONCE!

PLEASE, people ! READ the post !
Does that fisherman's name in the article match my avatar ? Not hardly !

I post stories found elsewhere that I think our members will enjoy and share those articles/ photos ! You'll know when I post my own catch - you'll see a butt-ugly mug that matches my avatar, only with a huge, sh*t-eating grin !
