Seen those in pet shops and they were call a Dollar Fish. I didn't know they had wet markets in the US. Any bats for sale??
Throughout the northeast you can find 'wet markets' usually where there is a concentration of Asian folks. I get cooked ducks at a nearby market. Lots of different vegetables and fruits as well.
Backstory.....was driving close to the neighborhood where a chinese wet market is.....since i am going out on the Delaware river tomorrow or Thursday for catfish, I remember Jake, a member who wrote the book” Catfish hunters” mentioned that bluegill was one of cat’s favorites.....so i go into the market....trying to remember what bluegill looked like from pics i had seen...since this guy was bluish in color and about the rifht size, i bought a dozen. But now im not so sure.....problem is nobody in the market speaks English and all the signs are in chinese...lol

Looks like a small Pampano. I remember them from my childhood. Mom used to steam them with oil, soy sauce, green onions and ginger. They were special, expensive, and extremely delicious. Hope you tried eating them and not using them for bait.

I have seen live frogs and dead ducks and other things in San Francisco China town years ago. Back then never heard of a wet market.

This is butterfish! My Filipino mom (RIP) used to buy like a dozen at a time at the local Asian market and put 3 or 4 (froze the rest) into a stew/soup called sinigang! Haven't had it in years.
I know that it's not uncommon, to find "live frogs" in the "vegetable drawer" of the refrigerator, in southern Louisiana!
Must be little tree frogs, they get in the house here also. Speaking of frogs I love big old bullfrog legs to eat. Grew up along the San Joaquin River and gig and ate hundreds of them.

Oh no man; I'm talking about decent sized bullfrogs PUT THERE, to wait on when there's enough of them, to make a right mess, for "the whole crew"! They seem to 1/2-way "hibernate" that way... Good way to "keep'em fresh".
