I usually carry along trail mix. None of the trail mix in the stores is 'just right' so I make my own. Really easy and convenient, and as my Dad used to say, "it sticks to my ribs". You need a beer to wash it down, of course!

3 - 12oz cans of ham and eggs, 8 - 16oz bottles of water, bag of beef jerky, 16oz container of cornmeal, 16oz bottle of Olive oil, cayenne pepper, 2 - eggs, a fry pan and Coleman stove. Just in case I catch some fish. That will keep me going from sunup to sundown and sometimes all night.
where do you find canned ham and eggs? we used to get those in
c-rations, they were awful. Took a lot of tabasco and some creativity to make that one edible.

Canned hams in the Dollar Store and they have a 4 or 5 year shelf life. There's a company on Ebay sells freeze dried scrambled eggs that has a 10 year shelf life. I've bought the eggs. I can eat them with a few squirts of catsup. I think they're better than c-- rations were but the hams are good.

OMG, sounds like your eating your bait. If I'm lazy, peanut butter abd jelly protein, granola, cheese and nuts. Alot of water and thermos of coffee.

My personal favorite was spiced beef. Since I knew every mess Sgt on post I could get little things like onions and potatoes to jazz it up a bit.

Dog biscuits, milk bones are the best,
Slim Jim's and string cheese!

No I found that on the web. But then again, reading thru it, I sure do remember. I remember that if you could find someone who actually liked the ham and eggs one, that was someone you wanted to keep around, because he would trade for other goodies.
I traded my 4 Cigarettes, for the crackers and cheese.
