That would be a hard Day's work. How do those fish flip right off the hooks?

Plenty of hyperbole out there, but there are occasions, albeit rare for me, when 100 good fish may be caught. On a good day, the shad run in the James and other Virginia rivers can produce catches well in excess of 100.

I have a lot of fun with this statement. I know it when someone says I caught or we caught a 100 fish today. That it means they had a great day. I love hearing about someone's great day. It does happen.

When it's someone who is just bragging and trying to show there superiority. I like to ask if they kept them or did they really keep count. I also ask how long they fished. I always get a big chuckle out of it. If it's a friend I get a lot of fodder out of it to horas them. I have learned to be careful. Some get pissed, and don't like being questioned about it.

Here is the math.
8 hours is 480 minutes, divided by 100 fish. That is a fish being caught every 4.8 minutes.
That is some very busy fishing. LOL

Question it or not but there have been several times in my fishing experience where I have caught 100+ fish in an outing. This is a pic from two weeks ago where my son and dil were ice fishing for about 3 1/2 hours and that WAS 49 fish and they put 1 large bass back in the water.
Like I say , it does happen and yes I do fillet them by hand, NO electric knife.

If you are on crappie, it is sometimes 2 fish every three or so minutes. We have had 4 of us on the dock and pulling in as soon as it had time to sink to depth. Only lasts about a week to 10 days, but wow.

So, I had a day to remember also. Over 300 smallies in four hours, 3 rods casting rapalas. That day, two of my daughters and my brother (he actually did a little professional fishing) left our boathouse on the salmon river (east end of lake Ontario) and traveled one mile to the Selkirk Park jetty. Fished in 10' water and every cast produced a smallie. As soon as the rapala hit the water another strike. My one daughter actually pulled in 2 on one cast.

It appeared every bass on Lake Ontario was concentrated in a 800 square foot area!! What a treat. My youngest daughter at the age of 10 stopped fishing on her 75th catch (she caught the least). My brother was releasing fish after fish while fighting a "big one". That fish was the only we kept as it was worn out upon boating and we could not revive. 20 1/2", the largest of the day. Fish mainly were between 13" and 19". A day to remember. Unfortunately we had to leave after 4 hours as my daughters had a commitment. Went back two days later and they were gone.

Now moving to Knoxville for the mountains and lakes. Can't wait
Joe

What is it about the advertising on the Stage. You are discussing how long it takes to catch each of 100 fish and the advertisement say it takes 30 second from home. Is there some connection between our conversation and the ads? We discuss fish all the time and there are dating sites. What’s going on?

I fished part of the inland waterway in N.Y. in the 80's, the Mohawk River. Was polluted prior and no one fished it for a long time. We went up there (from N.J.) and the fishing was off the charts. 100 - 150 fish per day was a regular thing. A mix of smallmouth, rock bass, and walleye. Most smallies were 9-12inches (13-14 were the tops for the day) walleyes were up to 18 inches (most smaller). Never had that kind of action anywhere else and as soon as word crept out about it the numbers declined. was GREAT while it lasted

It's been many, MANY years ago; but, there was either 3 or 4 of us, caught at least 50, POSSIBLY 100 White Bass outta Lake Erie, one day. (Between all of us) {Might've been just inside the mouth of a river... I ain't SAYING which river...}
Had a good fish fry THAT evening.
Watching those guys catching the Blackfins (or whatever they were) just about "wore me out". Reminded me of a couple of days, out in the Gulf of Mexico... Long story... Bottom line= we were catching Bonita (¿Bonito?) on shrimp, as fast as we could, while the chum lasted! (They were about the size of the fish in that video.)

As far as them sending us these "dating" advertisements goes; maybe they figure: all we need is a little female companionship, and we'll forget about the fishing!
