I have a lot of fun with this statement. I know it when someone says I caught or we caught a 100 fish today. That it means they had a great day. I love hearing about someone's great day. It does happen.
When it's someone who is just bragging and trying to show there superiority. I like to ask if they kept them or did they really keep count. I also ask how long they fished. I always get a big chuckle out of it. If it's a friend I get a lot of fodder out of it to horas them. I have learned to be careful. Some get pissed, and don't like being questioned about it.
Here is the math.
8 hours is 480 minutes, divided by 100 fish. That is a fish being caught every 4.8 minutes.
That is some very busy fishing. LOL
That's a commercial fishing outfit. There not fishing there harvesting.

Welcome to the Forum, mb. As you follow the Forum, you will realize that fishermen, do have a tendency to embellish somewhat, at times. But, most fishermen know that, and they will automatically correct the statement in their minds. In other words, if you told me that you caught a hundred fish yesterday, my mind would automatically correct that number to be a "few". And then, life would go on, no harm done.
That whole process is rather amazing and it looks like a lot of work. I wonder how often the schools hit like that?
The post was would meant to be amusing. Guess I did not get that across.

I have a friend who tells how many he caught then how many were keepers. "Caught 40 today, 4 keepers." LOL

I have a buddy that would lie even if the truth sounded better.

I’ve had a good number of days where I’ve caught 25-30 short fluke or stripers without one keeper. Maybe not 100, but good days anyway.
Growing up in Colorado and fishing at about 7,000 feet, there were two times each year when you could catch 100 fish per day, actually about as fast as you could cast. The two times were when the ice came off small creeks, and when the brown trout spawn, if you know where they congregate. A barbless hook must be used and it's really not that much fun. I did not keep fish in those circumstances.

I can remember 1 day out of all my fishing years that my partner and I together caught around 100 bass. They were stacked up in an old creek channel like cord wood. We would catch a fish on every cast, but that was 1 day in 55 years. There were other boats close who weren't catching anything and several tried to move in on you but you had to make the right cast. most of them were small around a pound with a big bass if you could get to the bottom. That was a day to remember, never got close to that number again.
