I was thinking about naming my poles, and I've already named some of my luckier and more interesting lures. Am I the only one who does this?
If you name your poles or lures, what did you name them and why?

Not in the habit of "naming" inanimate objects.....they never even respond or acknowledge, much less... come to me, when I call 'em....so what's the point ? LOL.
I call mine the good one, or the lousy one. It varies with the day
My wife has a name for my pole.
When I had a sailboat, it's name was BLOW ME.
A couple of things. The rods and reels are all numbered and listed on a tablet in my garage along with all my fishing stuff in the winter. The reels are numbered with the date and kind of line installed. They are mounted on a home made rack out of 1.5 PVC( elbows, "T's" and spacers) My wife is an avid fisher lady, so it helps to keep track of things with a lot of stuff.

While I have been known to name cars and trucks, I've no memory of naming any fishing gear. Certain nets, always had "descriptive names" ("Shark net"; "stab net"; "Mackerel net", etc.) ... Most things I'd recognize from decades ago, are M.I.A. anyway; so, I'm thinking that I'm better off not giving names to a bunch of inanimate objects, ... If I can't make current or future use of an item, I try to separate myself from it, anymore.
I hardly named my girlfriends.. I do number my rods
Built a 7 1/2 ft. flippin stick and let the wife pick where we went on our honeymoon. She decided we were going deep sea fishing with some of my tackle customers down in Miami Florida. We took several Flippin sticks and larger capacity reels along and she wanted to try the newest Flippin stick on Tarpon. Long story shorter she hooked into a 120 pound crazy brute that had that Flippin stick bent in half like an ultra lite. The rod lived thru the whole ordeal with flying colors with no damage to my complete surprise . That was 30 years ago and I am still piling them on the bank with it and it's named Giant killer !
Walleye fish all had the same name: Waley.
