Biggest LMB that I got to weigh was 6-13 but my favorites are the ones I've hooked in heavy cover that break me off and then tail walk and spit it back at ya, yeh buddy, you almost had me. That's what keeps me comin back.

When my son was 12, he broke a bone in his foot, spent the summer on crutches. We delayed our usual week at the Jersey shore until 1st week of September. On prior vacations I took him out on party boats for bottom fishing and would catch sea bass and fluke - all smallish. This time he asked to catch big fish. We went on a party boat targeting blues which would be in the 8 - 12 pound range. I gave him a light spinning rod with 12 pound test line thinking he’d have his hands full with blues using light tackle. He hooked a larger fish which took 45 minutes to bring up - it was a 35 pound yellow fin tuna. That was 1991 and remains the highlight of his fishing career

Caught an 80 lb flathead in Texas took two hours to tire him out with thirty pound test.
Lucky to land her. Didn’t have my phone for a pick. But witnesses picked up my daughter at 70 pounds then picked up the fish and said definitely heavier than her.
Cheers Ed
